Nixa golf course in the works

Posted online
A 735-acre development that includes a Jack Nicklaus Design golf course is coming together in Nixa.

The development is still in its early stages, according to Dale Beggs, president of Colorado Commercial Builders, the owner and general contractor for the project.

“We’re just in the planning work, but we’ll submit our plans of the overall development to (Nixa) in 60 days,” he said.

The site, located east of Highway 160 along the Finley River, will have residential, commercial, office and medical space, in addition to the community golf course. Elements of the project will be constructed simultaneously for a collective opening between 2010 and 2012.

An estimated cost has yet to be determined, Beggs said.

Yung Design of Branson will do landscape design for the site, and Shaffer & Hines Inc. of Nixa is the engineering firm. C. Jay Wynn of CJW Engineers is performing transportation consultation to establish access points for the development from Highway 160.

Beggs said his firm has approached the city of Nixa with intent to annex the property. Nikki Finkbiner, Nixa city planner, said Christian County has approved the project but annexation has not yet occurred.
