Nissan ad pulled for stretching truth

Posted online
Ten days before the Super Bowl, regulators with the Federal Trade Commission put the brakes on a Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. (OTC: NSANY) advertisement they said was misleading, according to Bloomberg News.

The ad featured a Nissan Frontier pushing a stuck dune buggy up a steep incline. The ad made the incline appear steeper than it was and the vehicle appeared to be moving on its own, though it was actually pulled by cables.

Nissan and its agency, TBWA Worldwide Inc., were not fined after they agreed not to air the misleading commercial.
