Nintendo to produce its own movies

Nintendo is looking into new avenues to generate income, including producing its own feature films.

The expansion into film production would mark the firm time Nintendo has done so. However, it has licensed its characters for films before. The live-action "Super Mario Bros." was released in 1993.

The company currently is vetting studios in hopes of producing the first movie during the next few years.
