Nike filed a federal trademark infringement lawsuit against the company that released a customized version of Nike sneakers in collaboration with musician Lil Nas X.
The "Satan Shoes" are modified Nike Air Max 97s. They are decorated with a pentagram pendant and a reference to Luke 10:18, a Bible verse about Satan's fall from heaven. They also have a drop of human blood inside the sole.
All 666 pairs of the modified shoes sold out shortly after going on sale Monday.
Nike alleges the shoe designer, MSCHF, is causing "significant confusion" around the company's brand. Lil Nas X is not named as a defendant in the suit.
