Nike reinstates Sharapova sponsorship after suspension

Embattled tennis star Maria Sharapova regained her most important sponsor on Wednesday, hours after the International Tennis Federation suspended her for a failed drug test at the Australian Open last January.

Nike Inc. announced it is reinstating its partnership with Sharapova, in large part because the ITF found she did not intentionally use a banned substance.

The ITF suspended Sharapova for two years and ordered her to forfeit the prize money she won at the Australian Open.
