Nigeria overtakes South Africa to become Africa's largest economy

With a 2013 worth of approximately $510 billion, Nigeria's economy has surpassed that of South Africa as the continent's largest, according to The Guardian.

According to the report, business could stand to benefit by the news, especially hotel owners, travel agents, airlines and event planners.

The United Nations Statistical Commission recommends a statistical rebasing every five years. Nigeria's comes after months of delays and mounting anticipating, The Guardian reports.
