NHTSA orders GM to recall 5.9M vehicles

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration denied a General Motors petition to avoid the recall of 5.9 million vehicles.

With the order, GM must recall 2007–2014 model SUVs and pickups.

The NHTSA claims the vehicles have defective Takata-built airbag inflators.
