NHL announces plans to return

The National Hockey League announced plans to return more than two and a half months after shutting down due to the coronavirus pandemic.

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said 24 teams would play, if and when medically cleared, for a unique playoff tournament in two hub cities, according to The New York Times.

Training camps are slated to resume as soon as July 1. The presentation of the Stanley Cup is scheduled in early fall.
