Accounting Elliott, Robinson and Co. LLP hired staff accountants Wes Darnell and Maria Williams. Darnell, a certified public accountant, holds a law degree from University of Missouri and a master’s in accounting from Saint Louis University. Williams earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from College of the Ozarks.
Banking Audra Anson joined Guaranty Bank as a corporate services account manager. Anson, who holds an MBA from Missouri State University, has nine years of banking experience.
Consulting Diana Day joined People Centric Consulting Group as a business manager. Day previously worked five years as an office manager for Esterly, Schneider & Associates. She holds a bachelor’s in consumer and family sciences from MSU.
Education MSU nursing department head Kathryn Hope received a $152,746 renewal grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration for the school’s advanced education nursing traineeship program.
Drury University was named a Military Friendly School by Victory Media. The 2014 list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that embrace America’s military service members, veterans and their spouses as students.
College of the Ozarks and Drury, Evangel and Missouri State universities were recognized on U.S. News & World Report’s 2014 Best Colleges list. Drury ranked No. 8 on the list of the Midwest’s best regional universities, and MSU came in at No. 68. In the Midwest regional colleges category, C of O is the top ranked area college at No. 10 and Evangel ranked 51st.
Government The Missouri Association of Prosecuting Attorneys recognized Sen. Bob Dixon, R-Springfield, with the Legislative Champion Award for his work in the 2013 legislative session on behalf of Missouri’s criminal justice system.
Health Care Dr. Richard Alvarez of Northside Dental Clinic was named a fellow by the Academy of General Dentistry. The Fellowship Award recognizes dentists who complete 500 hours of continuing dental education and pass a comprehensive exam.
CoxHealth added six doctors. Dr. Tania Papsdorf, who attended the University of Kansas School of Medicine, joined Ferrell-Duncan Clinic as a neurologist. Dr. Dennis Ng, who holds a medical degree from the University of Sydney in Australia, joined Ferrell-Duncan Clinic as a gastroenterologist. Dr. John Spencer, who attended medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, was hired by CoxHealth Springfield Inpatient Physicians. A University of Missouri-Kansas City medical school graduate, Dr. Emily Mebruer, joined CoxHealth Center Lebanon. Cox Monett Emergency Room added Dr. Tommy Trent, who holds a medical degree from Oklahoma State University. Dr. Stacy Harms, a graduate of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, joined Monett Surgical Associates as a general surgeon.
The Missouri Hospital Association awarded Ozarks Community Hospital a $50,000 Grow Your Own Grant. The funds are designated in part for hospital training programs and data collection on employee satisfaction.
Oxford HealthCare received the 2013 Alfred P. Sloan Award for Excellence in Workplace Effectiveness and Flexibility from the Families and Work Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management. Oxford was recognized, in part, for its flexible employee scheduling.
The Missouri Health Care Association honored Citizens Memorial Healthcare’s Ash Grove Healthcare Facility and Parkview Healthcare Facility with MyInnerView’s Excellence in Action awards for workforce satisfaction and resident satisfaction. The CMH facilities are ranked among the top 10 percent nationally in both categories. CMH in Bolivar, Butterfield Residential Care Center, Colonial Springs Healthcare Center and Lake Stockton Health Care Facility each received an MIV Excellence award for resident satisfaction.
CMH hired Drs. Edemekong Bassey, Kurt Bravata and Sarah Cooper. Bassey, a graduate of the College of Medical Sciences at the University of Calabar in Nigeria, is board certified in internal medicine. Bravata is a family medicine physician who attended medical school at Ross University School of Medicine in North Brunswick, N.J. Cooper, a doctor of obstetrics and gynecology, is a graduate of Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.
CMH named Lesa Stock as chief clinical officer. Stock previously served as CMH’s director of medical staff services for 13 years.
Cox Medical Center Branson Physician Assistant Steve Berkstresser is now providing care at Faith Community Health Clinic, serving patients in Stone and Taney counties.
Law Husch Blackwell’s Springfield office added Ashley Norgard to the firm’s labor and employment group. She received a law degree from Faulkner University’s Thomas Goode Jones School of Law in Montgomery, Ala.
Media KWFC 89.1 FM of Springfield was named the 2013 Radio Station of the Year at the National Quartet Convention Music Awards. The honor recognizes the station as a leader in quality broadcasting and positive influence in promoting the southern gospel industry.
