Accounting
BKD LLP promoted Valerie Kelsey to senior consultant II. She is a member of BKD’s senior living billing services, specializing in accounts receivable recovery and assisting clients with billing software setup issues, system updates and training.

Hagan, Tucker, Schmitt & Gintz LLC added Yang You as staff accountant. She has a background in small-business operations and an MBA from Missouri State University, as well as a bachelor’s in accounting.

Hagan, Tucker, Schmitt & Gintz staff accountant Samantha Gaston earned her certified public accountant designation. With a bachelor’s in accounting from MSU, she has been with the firm for four years, specializing in accounting and tax services to individuals and small businesses.

Banking and Finance
Arvest Bank named Doug Heck as executive director of the consumer lending division. He has 23 years of industry experience with 13 years spent at Arvest. Heck oversees consumer loan underwriting and processing, product management and a business intelligence and analytics team.

Education
Sharla Bailey, an assistant professor of accounting at Southwest Baptist University, was installed as the Lenore Miller Accounting Chair. The position was created by Barbara Clemmons to honor her mother’s service to the accounting profession.

Drury University architecture students won first place at a student design competition sponsored by the American Institute of Architects’ Central States Region. The team competed against six schools for a design of the 45,000-square-foot Mississippi Watershed Research Center with presentations evaluated on framework, building and overall delivery. The team received $4,000, a certificate and a trophy.

Health Care
Dr. Michael Murrell, psychologist at Murrell Counseling Service LLC, completed a workshop for eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing, titled “Treating Interpersonal Dependency Issues and Pathological Bonding Patterns with EMDR.” EMDR is a first-line therapeutic technique for dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety issues that are resistant to conventional therapeutic approaches. Murrell has practiced with EMDR since 1996.

Landscaping
Brock Phipps, director of field operations for the Springfield Cardinals, was named the Double-A 2019 Sports Field Manager of the Year. It is the sixth time Phipps has received the award, following honors in 2008 and 2013-16. Under Phipps, Hammons Field has been named Double-A Field of the Year a record-setting seven times.

Manufacturing
SRC Holdings Corp. promoted Krisi Schell to executive vice president of human resources. She provides leadership to HR teams across the organization and The Great Game of Business to strategically align efforts to sustain and grow culture and support SRC’s 10-year growth plan. Schell joined SRC in 2013 as the organizational development manager.

Retail
Former Bass Pro Shops Conservation Director Martin MacDonald was named Distinguished Citizen by the Boy Scouts of America. He spent 25 years working with Bass Pro CEO and founder Johnny Morris on developing conservation partnerships, fish and wildlife habitat initiatives, and programs connecting youth and families to the outdoors. He founded Bass Pro Shops Outdoor Days and co-founded the Wonders of the Outdoor World National Outdoor Recreation and Conservation Schools program and the Bass Pro Shops Fitness Series. The award recognizes civic service, especially to youth.
