Accounting Kevin Ailor, certified public accountant and supervisor at KPM CPAs PC, received the Certified Information Technology Professional designation. The certification is issued to CPAs who demonstrate expertise in information management and technology assurance.
Banking Ozark Mountain Bank named five new members to the bank's advisory board: Ron Jett, general manager for Dixie Stampede in Branson; Chris Lucchi, owner of Lucchi Associates; Anne McGregor, marketing consultant to Share It Forward; Scott Skoglund, of Brookwood Inn and Camden Hotel & Conference Center; and Lisa Rick, office administrator for Tri-Lakes Dental Center.
Arvest Bank named Michele Shroyer manager of its Hollister branch. Shroyer has worked at Regions Bank as a sales manager and associate vice president and at Great Southern Bank in Branson and Springfield as a branch manager.
Pamela Yancey was named community bank president in Arvest’s Branson market, where she has worked in banking since 1989.
Education Michelle Norgren, national center director of Viticulture and Enology Science and Technology Alliance at Missouri State University, received a continuation grant of $1.3 million from the National Science Foundation. VESTA is an NSF-funded collaboration between educational institutions nationwide, state agriculture agencies, vineyards and wineries devoted to providing higher education in grape growing and winemaking.
Elizabeth Sobel, an associate professor of anthropology at MSU, received a $5,100 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for the Archaeological Project Collaboration between Mark Twain National Forest and the university. The project aims to complete archaeological field work to fully document the Benge Route of the Trail of Tears in the forest’s Poplar Bluff District.
Robert Pavlowsky, director of MSU’s Ozarks Environmental and Water Resources Institute, was awarded an $88,113 grant from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to support research to evaluate mining contamination streams in southeast Missouri due to mining.
Government Mercy paramedic Joseph Heath and Springfield firefighter Jeffrey Elliot, along with six other Missourians, received a Medal of Valor in Jefferson City from Gov. Jay Nixon.
The honorees were recognized for their efforts to save lives of Missourians during 2011.
During a January 2011 house fire, Heath rescued a young girl before the Fire Department arrived, and once on the scene, rescue specialist Elliott located a second girl and brought her to medical personnel.
Health Care Mercy Hospital Springfield was named, along with five other hospitals, as one of Wal-Mart Stores Inc.’s Centers of Excellence, part of its health care model for associates. Mercy was chosen to provide spine care for Walmart associates in the Midwest and East.
Elizabeth Lee, a hospice and palliative specialist at Oxford HealthCare & Hospice, was chosen as 2013 secretary for the Heart of the Ozarks chapter of the National Oncology Nurses Society and as vice president, president-elect for the Missouri End of Life Coalition.
Lee has worked in the hospice and health care education fields since 1979 and with Oxford since 2008.
Hospitality Brittany Roark joined Big Cedar Lodge as western regional sales manager. Her primary focus is coordinating corporate and business meetings and special events, but she also works with group bookings. Roark previously worked as director for Heart 4 Children, a Houston, Texas-based nonprofit.
Nonprofit Russ Lewis, cabinet member of The Dr. Michael J. Clarke Museum of Ozarks Scouting, was appointed museum curator. Lewis succeeds Ozark Trails historian Steve Paris, who resigned for health reasons.
Transportation The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency honored Prime Inc. with the 2012 SmartWay Excellence Award for achievements in moving freight more efficiently and reducing carbon dioxide and other emissions.
Prime received honors in both flatbed and refrigerated trailer fleet categories from small- to medium-size companies at the American Trucking Association’s Annual Management Conference & Exhibit in Las Vegas and at the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals Annual Conference in Atlanta.
