Accounting
The National Academy of Public Accounting Professionals selected Jacob Sanders of Elliott, Robinson & Co. LLP among the 2015 Top 10 Public Accounting Professional Rising Stars in Missouri. He joined Elliott, Robinson in 2004 and was nominated by peers or clients.

Roberts, McKenzie, Mangan & Cummings PC hired Lulu Saige as a staff accountant. Saige holds a master’s in accounting from Missouri State University.

KPM CPAs PC established a scholarship to benefit Southwest Baptist University accounting students. The KPM Scholarship Fund at SBU will begin distributing scholarships during the 2016-17 academic year.

Banking and Financing
Central Bank of the Ozarks promoted Brittney Mickelson to bank officer and loan operations manager and Michael Montana to commercial services manager. Mickelson has nine years of experience, working most recently as loan operations assistant manager. Montana, previously a loan operations and banking center manager, has eight years of experience.

The Missouri Bankers Association honored Brandon Taylor, chief financial officer and chief operating officer of Legacy Bank and Trust in Rogersville, with the 2015 Young Bankers Leadership Award. Recipients at MBA-member banks are age 45 or younger.

Construction
Cabinet Concepts by Design hired Stan Krempges as business development manager. The founder of Renew Crew worked as vice president of operations after selling the company and has 20 years of experience in business development. He is working on the launch of Cabinet Concepts’ closet business.

Education
The MSU Board of Governors elected new officers: Chairman Peter Hofherr, CEO of St. James Winery; Vice Chairman Joe Carmichael, president of Carmichael & Neal PC; Treasurer Steve Foucart, MSU’s chief financial officer; and Secretary John McAlear, MSU staff emeritus.

Bernie Dana, associate professor and business department chairman at Evangel University, presented the keynote address at the 2015 LeadingAge Fall Conference in Omaha, Neb. LeadingAge comprises 6,000 members and partners, including 39 state associations, existing to improve the care and services for aging individuals.

William Garvin, director of Drury University’s Olin Library, was named as a trustee on the Springfield-Greene County Library Board. Garvin also presented at the Missouri Association for Museums and Archives annual conference in Columbia.

Government
Digital Monitoring Products and Cyberguard received Patriot awards from Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, an agency of the Department of Defense. The award recognizes companies for supporting employees who serve in the National Guard and reserves.

Missouri Rep. Lincoln Hough, R-Springfield, received the Missouri Division of Tourism’s Sen. Emory Melton Legislative Award. Hough was recognized for efforts in maintaining tourism funding in 2012, which preserved the division’s cooperative marketing program, and voting to add additional funds to the tourism’s 2015 budget.

Brian Kent, owner of On Second Thought Laser Tattoo Removal, was recognized in a House of Representatives resolution for helping victims of human trafficking. Kent removed a young survivor’s tattoos, eliminating the physical evidence of trauma and assisting in her recovery.

Health Care
Ozarks Community Hospital added three new employees: Dr. Megan Cherry in the emergency department, certified family nurse practitioner Michelle Spencer in the OCH Medical Offices Clinic and certified registered nurse anesthetist Erin Salsman on the outpatient surgery team. Cherry earned her degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences; Spencer received bachelor’s and master’s nursing degrees from Cox College; and Salsman and received a master’s in nurse anesthesia from MSU.
