The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada awarded the city of Nixa the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2015. In the award, the association’s highest recognition, Nixa Finance Director Donna Swatzell was recognized.
Robinson & Co. LLP added certified public accountant Kyle Thompson as a fourth partner. With experience in client personnel and relationship management, he previously worked for financial institutions, health care providers and nonprofits.
CPA Practice Advisor named Elliott, Robinson & Co. LLP partner Amanda Kastler as a 2016 40 Under 40 honoree. The peer-nominated award recognizes young leaders in the accounting and tax profession.

Jim Batten joined International Dehydrated Food/American Dehydrated Foods/IsoNova Technologies/Fitco as chief finance officer. Batten previously worked as CFO for O’Reilly Automotive Inc. and executive vice president at Convoy of Hope.
Municipal Reeds Spring and Galena received second place Community Awards in their respective size categories during the Missouri Community Betterment conference in Columbia.
Construction
Kirberg Co. received the 2016 Torch Award from the Better Business Bureau of Eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois. The award recognizes commitment to customer service through ethical business practices.
State Rep. Lincoln Hough, R-Springfield, received the Design-Build Institute of America’s Distinguished Design-Build Leadership Award. He was recognized for sponsoring design-build legislation, namely House Bill 2376, which created the construction manager-risk method for political subdivisions.
Health Care
Mercy Hospital Springfield earned a three-year accreditation from the Global Healthcare Accreditation program. The system, one of 50 accredited organizations, met 17 core competencies and displayed a superior commitment to providing safe, efficient and ethical patient care throughout the medical travel cycle.
Family nurse practitioner Lisa Anderson joined Ozarks Community Hospital Evergreen Clinic. She previously worked in the OCH’s Springfield emergency room and with OCH’s Polk County Clinic in Bolivar.
Adrienne Sanford joined OCH as a pediatric occupational therapist. She has a master’s in occupational therapy from the Washington University School of Medicine.
Integrity Home Care Inc. promoted Whitney Burns to corporate director of human resources. Burns joined Integrity in 2012 and previously worked as corporate manager of human resources.
Nonprofit
Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield volunteer Powell McHaney was named 2016 Outstanding Board Volunteer by the Boys & Girls Clubs Missouri Area Council. A longtime board member, he is actively involved in the resource development and property committees; chairman for eight years of the Fore the Kids Golf Tournament; and the teen job training program.
Habitat for Humanity of Springfield honored 24 businesses, community partners and individuals at the Hearts & Hammers annual luncheon. Golden Hammer awards went to Janice and Marvin “Brent” Jones, Ann Mills, Charlie and Mary Beth O’Reilly, PrimeSource Building Products Inc., Jon Spalding, Thrivent Financial, Irick Thurman, Chris Upp and Rick Windes.
