Accounting BKD LLP accountants Kale Dempsey, Ally Hartsfield, Kathryn Holmes, Ryan Salmon and Tyler Smithson earned certified public accountant designations. Dempsey is a member of the audit department who holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accountancy from the University of Missouri. Hartsfield and Holmes, members of the audit department, earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accountancy from Missouri State University. Salmon, a member of the tax department, received a bachelor’s in accountancy from Central Methodist University and a master’s in accountancy from MSU. Smithson, who holds a bachelor’s in finance, and a master’s in accounting and an MBA from MSU, is a member of the audit department.
Banking & Finance Marshfield Investment Co. named Jillian Barkacs vice president and compliance officer for Metropolitan National Bank. Barkacs, who has 21 years of industry experience and is a certified regulatory compliance manager through the American Bankers Association, worked most recently as chief compliance officer for Branson Bank.
Scott Franklin joined Hawthorn Bank as regional president, managing operations at Springfield and Branson branches. Franklin, who has 25 years of banking experience, worked most recently as senior vice president at Ozark Bank.
Janszen Ringo joined BancorpSouth as first vice president and commercial lender at the bank’s South Campbell Avenue branch. Ringo, who holds a bachelor’s in business administration from Southeast Missouri State University and is attending Barret Graduate School of Banking in Memphis, Tenn., has eight years of banking experience.
BancorpSouth promoted Joshua Sapp to first vice president in Springfield. He joined the bank in 2010 and has nine years of industry experience. Sapp received a bachelor’s in aviation science from College of the Ozarks and an MBA from MSU.
John Paul Caswell, membership chairman on the board of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors-Springfield, passed the general securities representative exam, aka the Series 7 or stockbroker exam.
A passing grade is required to obtain the professional license to become a registered representative of a broker-dealer in the United States. Caswell, who has 12 years of industry experience, is a local partner with New York Life.
Government Rep. Elijah Haahr, R-Springfield, was named Most Likely to be in Leadership out of the freshman class of representatives.
He was selected for this recognition based on his interpersonal skills, legal background, participation on the House Republican Campaign Committee and for running a successful primary campaign. Haahr, who earned his law degree from MU, works as an attorney for Aaron Sachs and Associates.
The city of Springfield named two assistant directors. Errin Kemper was promoted to assistant director of Environmental Services.
Kemper has 10 years of experience working with the city as a professional engineer, most recently serving in the Stormwater Engineering division of Public Works. He received a bachelor’s in civil engineering and a master’s in civil engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology.
Melissa Haase joined the city as assistant director of Public Information & Civic Engagement. Haase, who worked previously as a digital content editor for Community Publishers Inc. and publications manager for Mercy Springfield Communities, earned a bachelor’s in journalism from MSU.
