Southern Bank (Nasdaq: SMBA) ranked No. 10 on SNL Financial’s 2014 listing of the top 100 publicly traded community banks. Among all public and privately owned banks, Southern Bank was No. 63, based on financial performance such as profitability, asset quality and loan growth.

Guaranty Bank hired Kayshia Rosenbury as a marketing research and sales support analyst. Rosenbury has eight years of experience and worked most recently as sales manager for Simmons First National Bank’s Missouri region.

Deanna Wheeler joined Piatchek & Associates Inc. as office manager. Wheeler holds a bachelor’s in math from Missouri State University and has experience in management and accounting.

Education
Kum & Go convenience stores donated $4,000 to the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools’ Gallons For Growth fundraiser. The funds are supporting the Back to School Grant Program.

Kevin Hopkins, mathematics professor and department chairman at Southwest Baptist University, presented at the spring 2015 meeting of the Missouri Section of the Mathematics Association of America. He talked about GeoGebra, free, Web-based software for dynamic geometry and graphing.

Ozarks Technical Community College instructors Tristin Hooker, Angie McChesney and Trisha White received the Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching from the Missouri Community College Association. Presented to the top community college instructors statewide, Hooker is an adjunct reading and English instructor at the OTC Table Rock campus McChesney is a chemistry instructor at the OTC Springfield campus, and White is a mathematics instructor at the OTC Richwood Valley campus.

The Foundation for Springfield Public Schools named Nicole Bueno as the 2015 Linda Luke Librarian of the Year. Bueno was honored for reconfiguring the library at Cherokee Middle School.

Health Care
Cox Medical Center Branson hired Dr. Rolland Olds to practice family medicine and urgent care. Dr. Olds has 30 years of experience in emergency medicine.

CoxHealth Family Medicine Residency welcomed eight doctors for its 2018 class: Aaron Buzard, St. George’s University; Blake Fulks and Ken Starnes, University of Arkansas-Little Rock; Meghan Guthrie, University of Oklahoma; Shannon Marsden and Sarah Williams, University of Missouri-Columbia; Caitlin Schmitt, Kirksville School of Osteopathic Medicine; and Lisa Trask, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Family Pharmacy Inc. promoted five employees. Daniel Green, Courtney Mann and Katelyn Murray were named pharmacists in charge of the stores in Ozark, Rogersville and Fair Grove, respectively. Teresa Crisp was promoted to assistant store manager in Marshfield, and Paula Arney moved to front-end manager in Branson.

Manufacturing
Ozarks Technical Community College honored Jeff Schrag with its Excellence in Business Award. Schrag, who owns Mother’s Brewing Co. and legal newspaper The Daily Events, was honored for entrepreneurial success, overcoming challenges and supporting educational development.[[In-content Ad]]
