Education Wells Fargo Advisors donated $25,500 to The Missouri Colleges Fund to underwrite scholarships at its 17 member schools, including Drury, Evangel and Southwest Baptist universities.
Marc Crosby was named president of Everest College in Springfield. Crosby leads the school’s campus administrative departments, including admissions, student affairs, community and business relations, and educational programs. He brings six years of experience in higher education management to the college after serving as campus director of the University of Phoenix’s campus in Chattanooga, Tenn. Crosby received his bachelor’s in finance from the University of Arkansas and earned a master’s in business administration from University of Phoenix.
Finance The Credit Union National Association’s Marketing & Business Development Council presented CU Community Credit Union with a Diamond Award for its member services brochure, which was redesigned for the CU Community’s rebranding launch in 2012.
Jeff Layman, a senior vice president and portfolio management director with The Layman Group, was named by Morgan Stanley to the firm’s Master’s Club.
Government Springfield Police officers Tom Savard, Dennis Shook, Kathy Higbee and Maj. Bob Brown were recognized with Lifetime Achievement awards given to department personnel with at least 20 years of service and service beyond their normal duties. Officer John Brewer received the Meritorious Service award for acts in protection of life and justice, and officers Robert Reeves and Daniel Conklin and Cpl. Heather Anderson received Life-Saving awards for personally saving lives.
Mary Ann Rojas was named the city of Springfield’s director of workforce development, effective June 24. Most recently working as a consultant, grant writer and lead project manager in Temple, Texas, Rojas will manage 60 employees in the department and a $4 million annual budget.
The city of Springfield was awarded a $400,000 brownfield’s grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The city was one of 11 entities in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska to be selected to receive the grant, which will be used to assess, clean up and revitalize brownfield properties.
Insurance FCNB Insurance presented Springfield agent Jason Chastain with the Sales Excellence Award at its annual banquet. Chastain has worked with FCNB Insurance since 2011.
Ollis & Co. Claims Account Manager Amy Francis earned the Registered Health Underwriter designation from The American College in Bryn Mawr, Penn. She completed three courses and six hours of supervised examinations and met experience and ethics requirements.
Nonprofit Gift of Hope in Taney County was selected to receive two $1,000 grants as part of the Restaurant Community Grants program from the Darden Foundation, the charitable arm of Darden Restaurants Inc. The donation enables the nonprofit to purchase food for its Backpack Club program.
Michael Chatman, host of the weekly Twitter conversation #WhyIGive and senior vice president of philanthropy for Community Foundation of the Ozarks, was one of three people nationwide to receive a Listen Learn Care Award from the Office Depot Foundation. Representing nonprofit organizations, business, government and volunteer service, recipients are honored for demonstrating compassion, vision, leadership, a commitment to helping others, and success in developing and implementing community programs or initiatives.
Safeco Insurance Co. named John Horton one of 15 Safeco Community Heroes for contributions to his community. Horton, who was selected for the honor out of 172 applicants, served as the 2010–11 president of the Springfield Southeast Chapter of Rotary and was instrumental in localizing the Don’t Meth With Us Rotary program, which educates area fifth graders on the dangers of methamphetamines. The award comes with a $5,000 donation to the nonprofit organization selected by Horton, Don’t Meth With MO.
Real Estate Ethel Curbow and her team with Coldwell Banker Vanguard ranked No. 7 in the northern region for production at the International Coldwell Banker convention in New York. The region covers 19 states and more than 10,400 agents. The Curbow group also was recognized as an International President’s Elite Team, awarded to the top 8 percent of all sales teams in North America.
Hollister-based real estate broker Cole Currier was named in Realtor Magazine’s 30 Under 30 up-and-coming Realtors in the May/June issue. Currier, who works as a broker and co-owner of Foggy River Realty LLC, was selected by the National Association of Realtors’ publication out of nearly 400 applicants nationwide.
Services Linen and uniform rental services provider AmeriPride Services Inc. received the Gold Industrial Wastewater Pretreatment Compliance Award from the Missouri Water Environment Association. AmeriPride was honored for being in compliance with all wastewater discharge and reporting requirements, having an industrial wastewater treatment process or pollution prevention program, and a history of good relations with the nominating city or sewer district.
Technology Tech Decisions magazine recognized Springfield software developer IWS with a 2013 Rave Award for a client satisfaction rate above 94 percent. Through Novarica Average Customer Experience Rankings, insurance software customers evaluated the company’s staff, technology and functionality.
