Accounting
Abacus CPAs LLC hired Matt Clark and Tammy Adu for its Republic Road office. Clark, who brings experience from the Missouri Department of Revenue and holds a bachelor’s in accounting and an MBA from Missouri State University, is a senior auditor. With experience in accounting and management, Adu is an accounts receivable and work-in-progress assistant.
Architecture
Dake Wells Architecture added Branden Schwab as a marketing assistant. With a master’s of architecture from Kansas State University, he moves to a full-time role this summer after concluding a semester leading a class at Drury University’s Hammons School of Architecture as an adjunct professor.
Banking and Finance
Guaranty Bank hired Allison Kimes as its talent acquisition and management specialist. Previously working for Commerce Bank as a human resources specialist, she holds a bachelor’s in psychology from Lyon College and a master’s in industrial and organizational psychology from MSU.
Education
Drury’s Breech School of Business Administration inducted longtime banking executive David Gohn and retiring economics professor Bill Rohlf into its 2016 Hall of Fame Class along with 19 other members. Gohn, chairman and CEO of West Plains Bank and Trust Co., holds a bachelor’s from Drury and worked in community banking for 52 years. Rohlf came to teach at Drury shortly after earning his doctorate in economics in 1972 from Kansas State University.
The Missouri Broadcast Educators Association awarded College of the Ozarks’ Web newscast, “The Point,” with a first place award in its college media competition for video production.
Government
The city of Branson presented three Green Initiative Awards to Skogland Properties, Hunter’s Friend Resort and Clark Harris, a 21-year member of the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission. Skogland Properties was recognized for recycling over 10 tons of glass; Hunter’s Friend Resort was honored for energy-efficiency upgrades made since 2003; and Harris received the award for volunteering hundreds of hours to conservation efforts, such as trail development and trash removal.
Health Care
Americare presented its top annual award for fiscal responsibility to its Ravenwood assisted living facility in Springfield during the company’s annual meeting in South Carolina. Ravenwood was selected out of 76 assisted living properties based on quality surveys.
The American Association of Nurse Practitioners selected Janice Jones, a five-year nurse practitioner at CoxHealth Center-Buffalo, to receive a 2016 State Award for Nurse Practitioner Excellence for her community-education and student-mentorship efforts. The award will be presented during the association’s annual conference in June.
The American Academy of Orthotists & Prosthetists awarded a fellowship to Adam Edmonds, a certified prosthetist/orthotist for CoxHealth. He was one of four professionals selected in Missouri.
Hospitality
John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts promoted Jennifer Ridgely Torsleff to senior director of revenue optimization. She’s worked six years for JQH, most recently as regional director of sales and revenue optimization, and has 18 years of experience, including a stint with The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co.
Choice Hotels International selected Myer Hotels properties The Comfort Inn & Suites-Branson Meadows and The Comfort Inn at Thousand Hills as two of three finalists for its 2016 Hotel of the Year Award for the Comfort Inn brand. The Branson Meadows hotel won the 2015 award.
Insurance
Ollis/Akers/Arney hired Jennifer Alf as an account manager in the individual risk department. Licensed in life, accident and health insurance, she has experience in the insurance and customer service industries.
Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Co. selected the Ron Anderson Insurance Agency in Springfield to receive its Award of Excellence. The honor recognizes 10 consecutive years of distinguished achievement and performance for Grinnell Mutual.
Law
The Order of Barristers at the University of Missouri School of Law inducted Nate Dunville, an associate attorney at The Law Firm of Neal & Newman LLP.The national honor society recognizes oral advocacy and brief writing.
Manufacturing
Kevin Viau joined Tuthill Vacuum & Blower Systems as regional sales manager. Viau has experience in sales management and holds a bachelor’s in chemical engineering from University of Virginia and an MBA in operations and finance from the College of William & Mary.
The American Cat Fanciers Association recognized the Nixall product line from Seriously Clean Ltd. in Nixa as a premier product. Nixall also received notification from the Environmental Protection Agency that its disinfectant/sanitizer product has added new kill claims of six viruses and yeast.
Nonprofit
Edward Rice, auxiliary bishop of St. Louis, was named the seventh bishop of the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau. He has served as a priest in the Archdiocese of St. Louis since his ordination in 1987.
Technology
Bancsource Inc. hired James Hawkes as vice president of branch transformation services. He has over three decades of financial-services experience and holds a bachelor’s in marketing and a master’s in educational psychology from Brigham Young University.
