Highlandville-based Nichols Phanco and Associates signed on to participate in a program launched by the American Society of Tax Problem Solvers to assist returning combat veterans with Internal Revenue Service issues. Nichols Phanco and Associates is accepting pro bono cases with area veterans who have enrolled at ASTPS.org.

Architecture
Paragon Architecture Inc. hired Jessica Struckhoff as a designer. Struckhoff brings seven years of experience in architecture and planning, most recently working in the city of Bolivar’s planning department. Struckhoff earned a bachelor’s degree in architectural studies from University of Illinois.

Construction
Build LLC named Senior Project Manager Steve Monsanto and Operations Manager Paula Thompson as shareholders with the company. Monsanto leads five project managers, and Thompson has 20 years of accounting experience in the construction industry.

Missouri State University recognized builder Sam Clifton of Nixa-based Millstone Custom Homes with the Alumni Award for Excellence in Public Affairs for his work to build seven homes in Joplin for ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” Clifton graduated from MSU with a bachelor’s degree in construction management in 1992.

Education
Ozarks Technical Community College selected Steven Bishop as its provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs.

Bishop, who currently serves as the college’s dean of allied health and interim dean of general education, will assume the new position July 1 pending approval by the board of trustees. He brings 31 years of experience in education to the post and has worked with OTC since the school opened in 1991.

Jennifer Alsup, executive director of the Southwest Missouri Area Health Education Center at Missouri State University, was awarded a $75,097 grant by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, through the A.T. Still University of Health Sciences. The center, which covers a 21 southwest Missouri counties, will use funds to enhance access to quality health care and preventive care through programs designed to grow the health care work force.

Government
The city of Springfield Finance Department received the Government Finance Officers Association’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the fiscal 2012 budget. This was the sixth year in a row the department earned the honor.

Rick Garner, a professional engineer with Springfield’s Building Development Services, was named Floodplain Manager of the Year by the Missouri Floodplain & Stormwater Managers Association.

Health Care
The CoxHealth Breast Care Clinic achieved 100 percent compliance for the fourth year in a row on its annual Mammography Quality Standards Act inspection administered by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the American College of Radiology.

The CoxHealth Stroke Center was reaccredited by The Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center with no deficiencies. The Joint Commission is an independent nonprofit organization that accredits and certifies more than 19,000 health care providers and programs in the U.S.

Stacy Bown, a CoxHealth patient care manager, graduated from the Missouri Hospital Association Center for Education’s Health Care Leadership Series. Bown was among 48 health care professionals throughout the state who graduated from the program.

Nonprofit
The Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau hired Ryan Allison as a partner development manager and Steve Ross as graphic designer and marketing coordinator.

Allison, who received her bachelor’s degree from Evangel University, is responsible for advertising sales in retail, restaurant and transportation services on SpringfieldMo.org and in the bureau’s publications.

Ross, who previously operated SR Graphics, handles graphic design and photography.

Harmony House named three new board members: Chris Ollis, vice president and senior portfolio manager with U.S. Bank Private Client Group; Tom Hoff, dentist with Dental Care of Nixa; and Delia Croessmann, senior marketing manager at DairiConcepts LP.

Real Estate
Two Murney Associates Realtors took home honors at a Greater Springfield Board of Realtors awards ceremony. Harry Chalfant was named Realtor Broker of the Year – the board’s highest honor – and Ava Snyder received the 2011 Salesperson of the Year Award.

Services
Ann Catlin, founder and director of the Center for Compassionate Touch, received the 2012 One Concept Humanitarian Award from presenters at the American Massage Conference in San Diego, Calif. The award recognizes the Catlin’s work to provide specialized training for massage therapists and other health professionals who serve elderly patients and hospice centers.[[In-content Ad]]
