Architecture Branden Schwab joined Butler, Rosenbury & Partners Inc. as an intern architect. Schwab, who holds a master’s in architecture from Kansas State University, has project experience in student and multifamily housing, a car dealer showroom, a higher education student center and a real estate office infill.
Banking Timothy Prater joined Springfield First Community Bank as vice president of residential mortgage lending. Prater, who holds a bachelor’s in finance from Missouri State University, has 10 years of mortgage lending experience.
Environmental Several individuals were recognized by the city of Springfield during the 13th annual Springfield-Greene County Choose Environmental Excellence Awards. Rountree neighborhood homeowners Rick Scarlet and GloriaJohnson received the Watershed Committee of the Ozarks’ Choose Environmental Excellence Award for water and energy efficiency improvements to their nearly 100-year-old residence. The area Solid Waste Management District selected David Doherty and Ronda Long for Environmental Service awards. Doherty promotes recycling as manager of Web-Co Custom Industries Inc., a sheltered workshop for disabled employees, and Long is a 10-year associate district planner for the district. Springfield Public Schools was recognized by the Springfield-Greene County Environmental Advisory Board for its sustainability initiatives, and Dairy Farmers of America received the Partnership for Sustainability’s Leadership in Sustainability Award. The Ozarks Clean Air Alliance honored professional engineer Tiffany Drake of Missouri’s Hazardous Waste Division for providing public outreach and education on air issues. The Tree City USA Citizens Advisory Committee presented awards to Missouri State University for creating a Sustainability Advisory Committee, as well as MSU faculty member Janice Greene for developing the tree-species list for the city of Springfield.
Health Care During Mercy’s annual Co-worker Appreciation and Signature Service Awards Banquet, Dr. Alex Hover was named Physician of the Year, and Dr. Jay Carlson was named New Physician of the Year. Community service awards were presented to Drs. Curtis Mather, Jeff Mutchler, Angie Whitesell and ThomasLewis. John Brown was named Springfield Volunteer of the Year by the Mercy Health Foundation.
Anessa Musgrave joined Hospice Compassus as a hospice care consultant charged with developing and administering education programs on the services and benefits of hospice care for referring physicians and the local community. Musgrave, who holds a bachelor’s in communications from the University of Tulsa, has 10 years of health services experience.
Hospitality TheDoubleTree by Hilton Springfield was awarded the Crystal Cookie Award in DoubleTree’s 2012 Brand Awards program. This is the second year the Springfield property has received the award, which recognizes DoubleTree hotels that best exhibit the brand’s culture.
James Braddock, executive sous chef at College of the Ozarks’ Keeter Center, achieved certification as executive chef from the American Culinary Federation, and Alden Griffus, the Keeter Center’s kitchen supervisor, received certification as a sous chef. The certification process comprised a three-hour exam in Little Rock, Ark., that included preparing food items judged by a master chef and three certified executive chefs.
Nonprofit The Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield added board members Holly Beadle and Jeff Yoakam to serve three-year terms. Beadle is a hospice liaison for Hospice & Palliative Care, and Yoakam owns Jeff Yoakam Agency Inc. for American Family Insurance.
