Accounting Certified public accountant Kassie Jarvis joined Bush, Ramlow and Shore PC as a tax manager. Jarvis, who holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Brigham Young University, is a member of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants and brings 22 years of public accounting experience to the firm.
Banking Peoples Bank of the Ozarks Marketing Officer Robin Rees was honored during the 2012 Executive Management Conference as one of 23 graduates of the Missouri Bankers Association Banking Leadership Missouri program. Rees has worked with Peoples Bank for 14 years.
Dean Johnson, vice president and commercial lender for Peoples Bank in Kimberly City, was named a Melvin Jones Fellow by the Lions Clubs International Foundation. The Melvin Jones Fellowship, named for the founder of Lions Clubs, is awarded for humanitarian service.

Education The Republic R-3 Board of Education hired Josey McPhail as the school district’s director of communications. McPhail previously held the positions of community relations and marketing specialist for Springfield Public Schools, and community action coordinator at United Way of the Ozarks.
Additionally, The Republic Schools District named Elizabeth Engelhart principal of its newly formed Sweeny Elementary. Engelhart previously served as the principal of Delaware Elementary in Springfield and worked as an instructor in the Republic school system for seven years.
Government Trenton Herr and Thomas Gross were sworn in as officers after graduating from the sixth Springfield Police Department Lateral Police Academy.
Health Care Dr. Steve Dove joined Northside Dental Clinic and James River Dental. Dove is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry and holds membership in the national and state dental associations and the Academy of General Dentistry.
The Missouri Foundation for Health elected Mike Peters as vice chairman of its board of directors. Peters, who has worked with Mercy Hospital Springfield for 21 years, is Mercy’s vice president of advocacy in Missouri.
Insurance PJC Insurance Agency LLC promoted Larry Jansen to senior producer. Jansen holds a master’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University, and has spent 16 of his 31 years in the industry with PJC Insurance.
Investment Pension Consultants Inc. promoted Laurie Tomko to senior manager of sales and marketing, and hired Pete Harris as manager of RetireAdvisers Services. Tomko is responsible for developing the sales strategy for the firm as well as developing and managing its marketing strategy and public relations activities. Harris manages a team of retirement consultants, develops education for retirement plan participants and delivers personalized investment advice to plan participants and individuals.
Law Nathan Duncan was named a partner at Douglas, Haun & Heidemann PC. Duncan, a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Law, joined the Bolivar firm in 2007.
Manufacturing The Missouri Association of Manufacturers named John Gentry, president of Positronics Industries, and Peter Fischer, president of Beehler Corp. in Mountain Grove, to its board of directors.
Nonprofit The Child Advocacy Center installed seven board members and appointed four officers. Officers are President Andy Bennett of Carnahan, Evans, Cantwell & Brown PC; Vice President Dot Atkinson, a community volunteer; Treasurer Jean Nyberg of BKD LLP; and Secretary Sydney Guilliams, a community volunteer. Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce hired Maggie Bridgeman as communications coordinator and chief writer, and Rachael Snow as marketing coordinator of economic development. Bridgeman, a 2011 graduate of Seton Hall University who previously worked for McClatchy News’ Washington, D.C., bureau, handles media relations and presents chamber messages to its members. Snow, a 2006 MSU graduate who previously served as a public relations coordinator for PaperWise Inc., coordinates the marketing strategy for the chamber’s economic development department.
Gerald Love, Genevieve Kynion, Jon Risdal and John Cox were inducted into the Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield Hall of Fame. Love was honored for his 70 years of connection to the club, both as a youth and as a board member. For 20 years, Kynion served as executive director of the Girls Club in Springfield, before it merged with the Boys Club. Risdal has served on the Boys & Girls Clubs Board of Directors since 1994 and was the board president in 2001 and Missouri Area Council chairman in 2003. Cox was a youth member of the club and has served on the board of directors for more than 28 years, including as president in 1994 and as a member of the National Area Council.
