Whitney Griffin, a certified public accountant and retirement plan consultant with Qualified Pension Services Inc., earned the aQualified 401(k) Administrator and Qualified Plan Financial Consultant licenses from the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries. Griffin, who joined the firm in 2010 and holds a master’s degree in accounting, specializes in operational and compliance management.

Education
Evangel University named Cameron Pace chairman of the communications department, Brandon Schmidly chairman of the theology department and Donna Washburn chairwoman of the behavioral sciences department. Pace, a communications professor, has worked at Evangel since 1990. Schmidly, an assistant professor of philosophy, has taught at the school since 2007. Washburn, a licensed clinical social worker, joined the Evangel faculty in 2000.

Finance
Douglas Bagwell & Co. named Alfred Painter an investment adviser representative. Painter, who has five years of financial services experience, specializes in retirement planning.

Government
Springfield Police Department Maj. Ron Hartman received the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Springfield Police Sergeant’s League. During the annual SPD awards banquet, other recognition was given to Joshua Steele, Officer of the Year, and David Shanholtzer, Corporal of the Year.

The Springfield-Greene County Library Foundation named Poplar Bluff attorney Valerie Richardson foundation and development director. Richardson, who succeeds Michelle Creed, is responsible for growing support of the library district’s philanthropic arm.

Health Care
Mike Peters, Mercy Health System’s vice president of advocacy in Missouri, was re-elected to the board of directors for the Missouri Foundation for Health. Peters joined the board in 2009.

Cox College selected Dennis Edwards as its vice president for academic affairs. Edwards worked previously at the University of Illinois, the University of New Mexico, Forest Institute and Drury University.

Insurance
Jay Hickman of Connell Insurance completed the yearlong Midwest Elite Force Sales Training program for new insurance producers. The work includes an instruction to prospecting and data gathering, risk assessment and relationship building. Completion of the program allows Hickman to receive the Associate in Insurance Production designation at the Missouri Young Agents Conference to be held in June in Branson.

Manufacturing
GuildMaster was named the top Green Manufacturer at the 23rd Annual ARTS Awards during the Dallas Total Home & Gift Market. The awards by the Dallas Market Center and Accessvvories Resource Team recognize decorative accessory retailers, manufacturers, sales representatives and designers.

Nonprofit
Dan and Sally Wise, owners of Friendly Ford Inc., donated $30,000 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks. The funds will aid the mentoring program in child and volunteer recruitment, background checks and interviews, and professional staff to match, train, support and supervise the relationships.

The Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce named John Wilson, owner of JSW Consulting, chairman of its 2012 executive committee. Other members named to the committee are Brian Fogle of Community Foundation of the Ozarks, Jennifer Jackson of Springfield Business Journal, Hal Higdon of Ozarks Technical Community College, Dawn Hiles of Drury University, Jeff Schrag of The Daily Events and Mother’s Brewing Co., Jake McWay of CoxHealth and John Black of City Utilities.

Services
MSPmentor and Nine Lives Media ranked JMark Business Solutions Inc. No. 113 among its global edition of the top managed service providers and No. 90 in its North America edition.

The rankings, based on surveys taken October–December 2011, consider such factors as annual managed services revenue growth, revenue per employee, managed services offered and customer devices managed.

Adam Johnson joined Bug Zero Inc. as a commercial sales professional. Johnson, who is responsible for commercial sales in the Springfield area, brings experience in both sales and customer service to the company.

Carla Ruark joined Windstream in its business sales organization providing Internet protocol voice and data services to medium and large enterprise customers. Ruark previously worked for AT&T Wireless Retail in Joplin.[[In-content Ad]]
