Advertising Emily Dale, an account coordinator at ADsmith Marketing & Advertising, participated in the Media Buying Academy through the Media Buying Boot Camp in Kansas City. Dale, who has been with ADsmith since 2011, received training in how to plan and buy television, cable, Internet, radio and outdoor media advertising.
Education Ozarks Technical Community College instructor Daniel Kopsas received the 2013 Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching given to the top community college teacher in the state.
Engineering The American Council of Engineering Companies of Missouri honored two Springfield firms at its awards banquet. Crawford, Murphy & Tilly Inc. received the Grand Award for storm-water improvements at Fassnight Creek. The project corrected issues due to aging, while retaining the area’s historic elements and enhancing the recreational experiences for visitors. GeoEngineers Inc. won the Honor Award for a horizontal directional drill project for a pipeline crossing the St. Clair River in Maryville, Mich. The work replaced a 3,195-foot long and 30-inch diameter steel pipeline that traveled into Canada.
Crawford, Murphy & Tilly named Springfield office manager Steve Prange as an associate of the firm. Prange joined CMT in 2004 and relocated to Springfield when the firm acquired Mathews & Associates Inc.
Finance McCullough & Associates LLC managing partner Terry McCullough was named a 2012 Top Financial Advisor by Cetera Financial Specialists recognizing skills in tax planning, portfolio management, family wealth planning and employee benefits. McCullough, who holds a bachelor’s in accounting from Missouri State University, has 30 years of experience in accounting, financial, investment and estate planning services.
Government The Missouri Department of Public Safety hired Ryan Nicholls as director of the State Emergency Management Agency. Nicholls served for seven years as director of the Springfield-Greene County Office of Emergency Management. He is a member of the International Association of Emergency Managers and the Missouri Emergency Preparedness Association.
Health Care Bolivar’s Citizens Memorial Hospital was recognized as Health Care Organization of the Month for February 2013 by the Studer Group, a national health care consultancy. CMH was recognized for accomplishments and improvements in patient experience by implementing the evidence-based leadership model.
Hospitality The Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau named six winners of community awards at the 66th annual Black Tie Celebration.
The Mary Award, named in honor of Mary Herschend and Mary Trimble who were instrumental in the development of Branson’s entertainment offerings, was presented to philanthropist Leon Combs for support of organizations including Cox Medical Center Branson. The Pioneer Award, given to someone who has served the community for at least 15 years, was given to Grand Country Inn’s Glenn Robinson. The Grand Village received the Beautification Award for extensive work done to enhance its appearance. David Smith was honored with the Ambassador Award for his leadership in the merger of Skaggs with CoxHealth. Given to honor someone providing outstanding service on behalf of children, the Care For Kids Award was presented to Karen Hall of Ozark Mountain Bank. The Community Spirit Award was given to Hollister City Administrator Rick Ziegenfuss for his hands-on approach to the area’s economic development.
Marketing Frank Thomas joined White River Business Specialists as an outside sales representative. Thomas brings to the marketing firm a background in corporate finance from a multinational health care product manufacturer.

Kevin Harrel, owner of ArborCare of the Ozarks LLC, was elected to a two-year term as vice-president of the Midwestern Chapter of the International Society of Arboriculture. Sports Several local honorees were inducted into the 2013 class of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. Dr. Rick Seagrave, an orthopedic surgeon with Mercy, was inducted for his 30 years of work in sports medicine. Former Branson and MSU basketball standout Dale Russell and Springfield City Councilman Scott Bailes, a former pitcher with the Cleveland Indians and California Angels, also were enshrined. SRC Holdings Corp. received the John Q.
