BKD Wealth Advisors LLC was recognized on CNBC’s list of the Top 100 Fee-Only Wealth Management Firms. The firm ranked No. 5 based on assets under management, staff with professional designations, average account size and asset growth.

Guaranty Bank hired brothers Jeremy Tennison as a senior vice president and commercial relationship manager and Scott Tennison as a vice president and small-business banking officer. Jeremy Tennison has worked the last eight years as Liberty Bank’s community bank president in Ozark, and Scott Tennison was previously a senior Small Business Administration lender at Liberty.

Education
Weaver Elementary was selected to receive five computers through the U.S. Senate’s Computers for Schools Program. Five Missouri schools were chosen, and each Senate office distributes 25 computers to support technology needs.

The Council on Public Higher Education in Missouri elected Missouri State University President Clif Smart president. Smart, who has served as MSU president since 2012, was one of three officers elected statewide.

MSU’s College of Business Ad Team won first place in the U.S. State Department’s Peer to Peer: Challenging Extremism, an international competition with 21 other universities. The group finished as the only U.S. team in the top three.

Springfield Public Schools named Cindy Webster principal for Weaver Elementary School next school year. Webster has worked for SPS as an elementary assistant to the principal since 2013. She holds a bachelor’s in elementary education and a master’s in English as a second language and a specialist in education administration from Southwest Baptist University.

Government
Leadership Springfield presented City Utilities General Manager Scott Miller with the O. Franklin Kenworthy Award, its top leadership honor. Miller, who has worked for CU since 2002, also has served the Board of the American Public Power Association, the Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility Commission and as chairman for the Board of The Energy Authority.

Health Care
CoxHealth’s five hospitals, as well as its outpatient centers and provider-based clinics, received national accreditation by DNV GL-Healthcare, signifying patient safety standards established by the U.S. Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Cox Monett Hospital named Dr. Darren Bass as president. Bass has worked for CoxHealth 15 years, most recently as executive director in Monett. He holds a master’s and doctorate in physical therapy from Washington University School of Medicine.

Brad Powers joined Ozarks Community Hospital’s Medical Offices Clinic as a psychologist. Powers specializes in treating mood, anxiety and post-dramatic stress disorders in adults. He earned a doctorate in clinical psychology from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology and a master’s in counseling from the University of Nebraska.

Nonprofit
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at CoxHealth raised a record $1.69 million during its annual telethon. Last year, the group raised $1.57 million.

Matthew Morris was named the 2015 Young Professional of the Year by The Network for Young Professionals. The associate vice president for administrative and information services at MSU is a member of Leadership Springfield Class 30 and has served on the boards of Urban Districts Alliance and the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce Governmental Relations Committee.

The Musgrave Foundation issued $380,000 in grants to 50 agencies, including the Railroad Historical Museum Inc., $20,000; CoxHealth Foundation and Southwest Baptist University, $18,000; Ozarks Food Harvest, $17,000; OTC Foundation, $12,500; and Southwest Missouri Office on Aging, $12,000.

Real Estate
Waco Title received an unqualified audit opinion certifying adherence to the American Land Title Association’s Best Practices standards. The independent audit reviewed efforts to protect private financial information and proper handling of real estate closings.

Retail
The National Association of Music Merchants named Springfield Music one of the world’s Top 100 musical instrument and product retailers, recognizing its marketing, music education and customer service.

Technology
U.S. Cellular named Courtney Turner sales manager for its Glenstone Avenue store. Turner has a year of experience working in the wireless industry.
