Banking Patti Mikulin joined the mortgage lending team at Peoples Bank of the Ozarks. Mikulin, who works at the East Sunshine Street branch, has 25 years of mortgage industry experience.
Education Reeds Spring Schools, in partnership with EarthWise Recycling Center, received a $9,695 grant from the Louis L. & Julia Dorothy Coover Charitable Foundation to fund a food-waste recycling program.
Linda Wellborn, Evangel University’s director of institutional research, was selected for the 2013 Julia M. Duckwall Professional Development Scholarship from the Association for Institutional Research. Wellborn was one of three chosen nationwide to attend the Association for Institutional Research Forum in Long Beach, Calif. Wellborn has a bachelor’s from the University of Akron, a master’s from Missouri State University, and a doctorate in education from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Engineering Dan Booher, CEO of management consulting firm Blue Ocean Advisers, was inducted into the Academy of Civil Engineers by Missouri University of Science and Technology. Booher was recognized for his work with several international and domestic Fortune 500 companies, including Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
Finance Peterson Wealth Advisors President Eric Peterson attended the Commonwealth Financial Network’s Winners Circle conference in Puerto Rico. Commonwealth Financial recognizes Winners Circle advisers based on annual production rankings among its network of 1,445 financial advisers.
Government Rep. Kevin Austin, R-Springfield, received the Freshman Legislator of the Year Award for Economic Development. Austin served as a member of the House committees on economic development, and small business and appropriations.
Health Care Jason Young, an instructor with the radiography program at Cox College, received the Missouri Society of Radiologic Technologists Award of Excellence. During the group’s annual conference, Young also was recognized for serving four years as the state delegate to the American Society of Radiologic Technologists.
CoxHealth massage therapist Marty Henslee presented on the hospital’s infant massage program at the Children’s Trust Fund’s Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Conference. Henslee discussed infant massage benefits, techniques and advice.
Insurance American Family Insurance hired Jessica McClish as an agent. McClish completed American Family’s agent-in-training program and earned a bachelor’s in business management and marketing from University of Phoenix.
American Family Insurance transferred Shannon Ranson to Springfield from St. Louis to serve as agency sales manager. Ranson succeeds Scott McCoy, an 11-year Springfield veteran, who is now in a leadership position at the Kansas City branch. Ranson joined American Family Insurance in 2002.
Nonprofit Four Home Builders Association of Greater Springfield members were certified as aging-in-place specialists: Jim Baker of B & G Drafting; Shannon Lee of Rock Solid Construction; Scott Bracy of Steward Construction; and Chris Oberhansley of Access Builders. The designation – created by the National Association of Home Builders, AARP and the NAHB Research Center – identifies professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to remodel or modify a home to meet the unique needs of the older population, disabled owners or their visitors through continuing education programs or their participation in community service projects.
Retail Town & Country magazine named Maxon’s Diamond Merchants among its 2013 list of America’s Leading Independent Jewelers. Maxon’s was recognized in the June/July issue for its service and jewelry collection.
Transportation Prime Inc. received the Trailblazer Award for its driver health and fitness program from the Health Trucking Association. At the annual Healthy Trucking Summit in Atlanta, Prime driver Melissa Fort was named the Female Healthy Trucker of the Year and former Prime lease operator Siphiwe Baleka, the creator of the health and fitness program, received the Legacy Award. Prime’s program has helped its drivers lose more than 6,000 pounds and helped 90 drivers quit smoking. Fort lost 10 percent of her body weight during the 13-week program.
