Law Becky Borthwick was appointed as a municipal court judge for the city of Springfield, succeeding Dennis Budd. She received a bachelor’s from The University of Missouri and a law degree from the University of Okalahoma College of Law. Borthwick’s term will expire June 30, 2017.
Media Springfield Lifestyle magazine hired Kim Blevins as editor. Blevins, who previously taught high school English and journalism in Mount Vernon, also will teach at Willard High School and Ozarks Technical Community College this fall.
Nonprofit Feeding America appointed Ozarks Food Harvest President and CEO Bart Brown to serve on its national hunger task force. Brown was recruited because of his innovative thinking and influence among his peers and Ozark Food Harvest’s consistently high operating and stewardship standards. He also serves as president of the Missouri Food Bank Association.

Springfield Symphony selected maestro Kyle Pickett as its conductor and musical director. Pickett, a former music director and conductor for the North State Symphony, the Juneau Symphony in Alaska and the Topeka Symphony in Kansas, was chosen among a field of six guest conductors who each led classical concerts throughout the 2012–13 season. He holds a doctorate from the Peabody Conservatory of Music.
