Banking
Tim Baker joined Peoples Bank of the Ozarks as vice president of commercial lending. Baker, who has 17 years of banking experience, is a graduate of the National Commercial Lending School.

Education
Drew Bennett, chancellor for Missouri State University’s West Plains campus, was granted a contract extension through June 30, 2014. Bennett was first named chancellor in July 2007, after 30 years in the U.S. Marine Corps where he retirement as a colonel.

MSU faculty members received grants totaling $267,916. Biology faculty members Alicia Mathis and Sherry Leis received $238,593 from the Cooperative Ecosystems Studies Units through the National Parks Service to improve distribution of fire science data. Biology professor John Havel received a $24,323 grant from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources via the University of Wisconsin, and political science professor Dennis Hickey received a $5,000 grant from the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy.

Government
Ryan Mooney, senior vice president of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, was named president of the Missouri Economic Development Council. In the role, Mooney also joins Missouri Partnership’s board.

Mooney and Springfield commerce colleague Jeff Seifried attended the Missouri Partnership’s and the Missouri Economic Development Council’s Lakeside with the Guild in Osage Beach. Other area economic development professionals in attendance were Jonas Arjes of the Taney County Business Development Partnership, Mark Stombaugh of Lebanon Regional Economic Development Inc., and Rob Harrington, Marsha Wallace and Kevin Welch of Joplin Regional Partnership.

Stan Dobbins was named Branson assistant police chief. He has worked in the city of Gladstone Police Department for 27 years. Dobbins earned his bachelor’s in criminal justice administration from Park University and is completing his master’s degree at Lincoln University.

Health Care
Sigma House of Springfield Inc. earned a three-year accreditation on detoxification, drug court, outpatient and residential treatment programs from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities in Tucson, Ariz.

Insurance
Sunny Fuller joined Connell Insurance through a partnership with HR Advantage LLC. Her expertise includes recruitment, employee relations and compensation.
