Evangel University students Anna “Josie” Gregory and Madaline Thompson were selected for the 2018-19 Student Missouri State Teachers Association. Gregory is a middle school education major and Evangel’s SMSTA chapter president. Southwest Baptist University professor of mathematics Bob Glasgow was presented the Leroy Sachs Award for lifetime achievement at the Missouri Council of Teachers of Mathematics Fall Conference in Columbia. The award, established in 1993, is given to an individual who has promoted the improvement of mathematics education.
Gov. Mike Parson appointed Cindy Herrmann Baker to the Committee for Professional Counselors and Dr. Colby Grove to the State Board of Pharmacy. Baker owns four counseling companies, Baker Consulting Services LLC, Touchstone Counseling LLC, Touchstone Helping Families LLC and Garden of Healing LLC. Grove is a pharmacist and co-owner of The Pharmacy @ Pleasant Hope.

Freedom’s Rest Family Violence Center CEO Matthew Ennis accepted the CEO post for 1in6, a national nonprofit dedicated to male-identifying survivors of sexual abuse and assault. He led Freedom’s Rest in Ozark, a nonprofit providing shelter and advocacy to domestic and sexual violence survivors, since March 2017.
