Construction Hart Construction LLC hired Jordan Ligon to spearhead business development efforts in northwest Arkansas and southwest Missouri. Ligon most recently worked for commercial market researcher Xceligent and has experience in real estate, property management and market analysis.
Education Evangel University’s Enactus team received a $1,500 Wal-Mart Women’s Economic Empowerment Project Partnership grant. With the funds, Evangel will collaborate with Missouri State University’s Enactus team to help Harmony House develop formal job preparedness and soft-skill development programs for women.
The Corporation for National and Community Service named MSU to its 2014 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. MSU was selected for such efforts as the Robberson after-school program and the Diversity Pep Talk program.
The Affordable Colleges Foundation listed MSU as one of 2015’s Best Online Colleges based on cost, flexibility and quality of programs.
MSU selected Elise Crain and Tom Strong to receive honorary doctorates in public affairs at the spring commencement ceremonies. Crain will be honored for helping found nonprofit Care to Learn in Ozark, and her volunteerism, which extends to such organizations as Women in Need of the Ozarks, Friends of the Christian County Museum and Ozarks Public Television. Springfield attorney Strong has served MSU as president of the Alumni Association, co-founder and charter member of the basketball booster club, member of the MSU Board of Governors and president of the MSU Foundation.
Lisa Lilley, Middle Years Program coordinator at Central High School and Pipkin Middle School, was elected to a three-year term on the board of directors for the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. Prior to working as a program coordinator, Lilley taught Spanish for 20 years at Reed Middle School, and Glendale and Central high schools.
Government Sen. Mike Parson, R-Bolivar, was honored by the Missouri Farm Bureau for his commitment to the passage of Amendment 1, known as right-to-farm bill. Parson helped draft the initiative, which voters approved in August.
Four officers joined the Springfield Police Department following a lateral graduation ceremony in December: Michael Carney of the Alamo Heights, Texas, Police Department; Eric Dye of the Nixa Police Department; Todd Mallow of the Branson Police Department; and Chris Wallen of the Clinton Police Department.
Health Care Cox Medical Center Branson was recognized by iVantage Health Analytics among the top 25 percent of all acute care hospitals in the nation based on health outcomes. The data reviewed included Medicare cost and Medicare claims reports.
Manufacturing David Schardt joined Tuthill Vacuum & Blower Systems as vice president of engineering, with duties including new product development and sustaining engineering and compliance. Schardt, who has 30 years of industry experience, previously worked as director of engineering at Manitowoc Co. in Wisconsin.
Nonprofit Gopala Borchelt, senior projects manager for Ozarks Water Watch and director of Table Rock Lake Water Quality, received the Community Service Award from the Table Rock Lake Chamber of Commerce.
