Accounting BKD LLP promoted Brandy Buckler, Kelsey Head, Justin Kensinger and Lindsey Oakley to managers. Buckler, who holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Missouri State University, provides audit services for financial institutions and not-for-profit and governmental entities. Head, a member of BKD’s national manufacturing and distribution group in Springfield and its Joplin construction and real estate team, is a graduate of Pittsburg State University. Kensinger, who assists community health centers with audits and other federal grant reporting and operating issues, holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Missouri Southern State University, and a master’s in accounting from MSU. Oakley serves as a national accounting and auditing assistant director in Springfield, and has earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from MSU.
Advertising Schilling/Sellmeyer & Associates Inc. hired Brian Norris as art director and Candi Carney as copywriter and account coordinator. Norris, who received a bachelor’s in graphic design at MSU, has 10 years of Web design and photography experience. Carney, who earned a bachelor’s in mass media/journalism from MSU, has worked for 10 years as a television news producer and writer, including a stint with KSPR-33.
Angela Smith, owner of ADsmith Marketing and Advertising, was selected to serve on The Foundation for Missouri Women Board of Directors. Smith was one of 10 women chosen statewide.
Banking Commerce Bank named Nichole Goddard director of retail administration for the Springfield region, which covers eight communities. Goddard, who holds a bachelor’s in management from Evangel University, has 13 years of experience with Commerce. She succeeds John Cox prior to his retirement in March after 40 years with the bank.
Gil Trout was promoted to chairman and CEO of UMB Bank’s Kansas region, while retaining his role as chairman and CEO of UMB’s greater Missouri region. Trout is responsible for building long-term client relationships, targeting new business relationships and guiding UMB’s strategic direction throughout Kansas. Trout, who has worked with UMB for 24 years, received a bachelor’s in business administration from Southwest Baptist University and an MBA from Avila University.
Engineering GeoEngineers Inc. added four people to work in its Midwest Environmental Services Group. Perry Friedrich, Chuck Kroeger and Rita Wiggin were named environmental scientists, and professional engineer John Carter was named a senior engineer. Friedrich previously led the environmental department at Grand River Dam Authority in Vinita, Okla., for 23 years. Kroeger worked for 29 years with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, where he directed regional activities related to solid-waste management, underground storage tanks, air pollution control and environmental emergency response. Wiggin has 12 years of professional environmental consulting experience, including asbestos inspections, tank compliance, removal and closure, and waste management. Carter’s 30 years of experience include working as a geological engineer and environmental compliance manager.
Government The Springfield Mayor’s Commission on Human Rights and Community Relations received the 2012 Local Human Rights Commission of the Year Award at an annual Jefferson City ceremony celebrating International Human Rights Day. The award recognized the commission’s efforts to promote understanding and respect among citizens and for providing recourse for discriminatory acts.
