For the third consecutive year, attorney Paul King of Springfield-based Law Offices of Paul W. King LLC was named to the list of Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers by Law & Politics magazine. King was recognized for his efforts in labor and employment law. Only 5 percent of lawyers in Missouri and Kansas are selected as Super Lawyers each year.

Attorneys John C. Holstein and Thomas J. O'Neal of the Springfield office of Shughart, Thomson & Kilroy PC are among 37 attorneys in the firm's six offices to be selected for inclusion among The Best Lawyers In America 2009. The annual lists are based on peer-review surveys. Holstein practices in the areas of appellate law and commercial litigation, and O'Neal practices in banking law, bankruptcy and creditor-debtor rights.

Douglas S. Evans and Brent D. Green, partners in Springfield-based Evans & Green LLP, were named 2008 Missouri Super Lawyers. Selection is based on ballots from Missouri lawyers and evaluation of candidates based on verdicts, experience and professional activity.

Judy Welch joined the Springfield office of Husch Blackwell Sanders LLP as a real estate administrator, working in the commercial real estate practice area. Welch earned her bachelor's degree from Missouri Southern State University and her law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She has more than 25 years of experience in the legal field, including time with international firms in Washington, D.C., and Dallas.

Steve Garner, attorney and president of Springfield-based Strong-Garner-Bauer PC, was voted one of Missouri's Top 3 litigators by Missouri Lawyers Weekly, and the No. 1 lawyer to call when an accident results in injury. The distinctions are made after a Missouri Lawyers Weekly poll.

Attorneys David C. Agee, Virginia L. Fry and Randy P. Scheer, partners with the Springfield office of Husch Blackwell Sanders, were named 2008 Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers. The three lawyers also were listed among The Best Lawyers in America. Agee was recognized in corporate law; Fry in commercial litigation and employment law; and Scheer in commercial litigation and product liability litigation.

David Ransin, attorney with Springfield-based David W. Ransin PC was named Missouri's Best Solo Practitioner by Missouri Lawyers Weekly. His practice areas are catastrophic injury and death litigation, primarily related to car, motorcycle and tractor-trailer wrecks. This is the second consecutive year Ransin was named Best Solo Practitioner.

Sarah Icet joined the Springfield office of Husch Blackwell Sanders LLP as an associate in the firm's real estate department. She earned her law degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law.

U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill was named 2008 Woman of the Year by the Greater Missouri Leadership Foundation. The award recognizes a Missouri woman who has shown outstanding leadership and has served as a role model and inspiration to other women. In addition to her work as a senator, McCaskill was slected for the honor because of her previous roles as a prosecuting attorney, state legislator and state auditor.
