Newsmakers in Health Care

George Graham Jr., DDS, and his clinical and medical staff completed the master's course at the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. Graham also completed the Advanced Anterior Esthetic course, and the Occlusion I and Occlusion II courses.

Brenda Dayhoff, food service supervisor, and Linda Fuller, medical assistant, were chosen as Team Builders for the month of August by Skaggs Community Health Center in Branson. The honor is given monthly to two employees who demonstrate commitment to the health center's mission.

John W. Cram, James E. Jameson, Thomas MacDonnell, Francis M. Maple and Glen M. McCray have been awarded the "50-Year Physician" pin from the Missouri State Medical Association at its sesquicentennial convention. The pin is presented to physicians who have been practicing medicine for 50 years.

Jeffrey R. Johnson, MD, attended the American Urologic Association's Urodynamics Seminar at the Surgical Learning Center in Houston, Texas. Johnson is a urologist, practicing with St. John's Urology Surgical Associates.

Taylor Health and Wellness Center at Southwest Missouri State University was reaccredited for a three-year period by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. Taylor Health Center achieved the highest possible score on each evaluation characteristic.

Skaggs Community Health Center in Branson added five members to its board of trustees, and two individuals to its board of directors. Elected to the board of trustees were: David P. Cook, president of First Community Bank of Taney County; Judith A. Ferguson, broker and owner of Aux Arcs Real Estate Inc.; Dean Harmon, executive vice president of Peoples Bank of the Ozarks in Forsyth; Mike Palmer, director of operations at Empire District Electric Co.; and Rep. Estel B. Robirds. The two new members of SCHC's board of directors are David Afshar, DO, a family practice and obstetrics physician, and Betty Bergmann, president of the health center's auxiliary.

Elizabeth Nelson Stobbe, MD, joined the Center for Internal Medicine. Stobbe is board eligible in internal medicine, and offers expertise and experience in women's health and geriatrics. She earned an undergraduate degree from Drury College in Springfield. Stobbe studied medicine at the Tulane University School of Medicine and completed her residency through the University of Illinois in Chicago.

Saumitra Biswas, MD, joined St. John's Regional Health Center, pediatric critical care department. Biswas is board -certified in pediatrics and neonatal perinatal medicine. He earned a medical degree at Calcutta University, India, in 1991. He completed specialty training in pediatrics, neonatalogy, pediatric hep-atology, pediatric cardiology, pediatric endocrinology and pediatric nephrology from 1991 through 1994 in England, a two-year neonatology fellowship in Toronto, Canada, from 1994-1996 and pediatric intensive care fellowships in the U.S. at Harvard Medical School, Boston and George Washington University, Washington, D.C.
