Dr. Sanjay Bhargava, cardiologist, joined the medical staff of Skaggs Community Health Center and the practice of Drs. Eliot Nissenbaum and Naginder Sharma at Skaggs Cardiology Associates. A native of England, Bhargava completed his medical degree at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, Imperial College, University of London. He completed a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at St. Vincent’s Medical Centers of New York Medical College and a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia.

Lynn Morris, president of Family Pharmacy, and Mike McKnight, pharmacist manager at Family Pharmacy in Forsyth, attended the 28th annual Midyear Conference of the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists.

Patients of Skaggs Community Health Center recently ranked its services in the top 3 percent for patient satisfaction in a nationwide survey. Skaggs has been in the top 10 percent nationally since November 2004.

Reba Dickinson, a member of the Citizens Memorial Healthcare Auxiliary for 20 years, received the Lillian Hutcheson Award, which is named in honor of Lillian Hutcheson, who founded and led CMH’s auxiliary program.

Dickinson is a volunteer at the CMH information desk and serves as treasurer for the CMH Gift Shop.

Dr. Jeffrey R. Fenwick, otolaryngologist, joined the Citizens Memorial Healthcare medical staff. Fenwick, a Harvard Medical School graduate, completed his internship and a residency at Washington University in St. Louis. He previously practiced in Charleston, S.C.

Citizens Memorial Healthcare in Bolivar earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval by demonstrating compliance with the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization’s national standards for health care quality and safety. CMH also earned separate Joint Commission approval for its hospital laboratory and all clinic laboratories.

Three St. John’s Clinic co-workers, Audrey Nash, Lois Wheat and Louise Hall, were recognized at the April 27 Practice Managers Meeting for their innovative thinking.

Nash was awarded $5,000 for her cost-saving creative idea for suggesting a shortcut for storing files, which will save approximately $114,840 in paper, toner, personnel hours and storage in the coming year.

Wheat was awarded $250 for suggesting the idea of a Swap Shop, which is an e-mail-based means of exchanging equipment or supplies within St. John’s Clinic. Hall was awarded $250 for her idea to re-purpose unused portions of multidose vials of Lidocaine.

Dr. Stephen R. Adams, a physician with CoxHealth, was elected for a one-year term as vice president with the Family Health Foundation of Missouri 2006-07 Board of Trustees.

The FHFM, chartered in 1988, is the philanthropic arm of the Missouri Academy of Family Physicians.

Drury’s Undergraduate Research Program in Pre-Health Sciences received a $27,000 grant from the Smith-Glynn-Callaway Medical Foundation. Directed by Barbara Wing, the program will use $17,000 for student research on diabetes, and the remaining $10,000 will go toward a scholarship annually funded by the foundation.

Dr. Kelly Barnett was elected president of the Greater Springfield Dental Society. Barnett, who with her husband, Dr. Marcus Barnett, owns Barnett Family Dental in Ozark, has been practicing dentistry in Springfield since 1984.

Douglas R. Trembath was named president of St. John’s St. Francis Hospital in Mountain View, where he has served as interim president since March. Trembath, who has more than 30 years of experience in health care, including more than 24 years as a president and chief executive, most recently served as president and CEO of Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Mo.[[In-content Ad]]
