St. John's Health System named Chris Knackstedt senior vice president and chief financial officer, effective March 1.
He will oversee all finance areas of the health system and nonclinical health plans operations. A graduate of New Mexico State University, Knackstedt earned a master's degree from New Mexico State University and is a certified public accountant. His most recent previous experience was as senior vice president of health care management in the health care division of Great-West Life and Annuity in Denver. He also has served as chief financial officer for health care networks and as an auditor with KPMG, an audit, tax and advisory firm.
Dr. Mark Drake of Lake Regional Health System's Surgical Specialists of the Lake achieved board certification in general surgery from the American Osteopathic Association. The process requires five years of residency training in general surgery and passage of oral and written exams. Drake, a graduate of College of Osteopathic Medicine at Oklahoma State University, completed a general surgical internship and residency at Tulsa Regional Medical Center. He joined Lake Regional Health System in 2007.
Shannon Atnip, physical therapist and certified hand therapist joined Ozarks Community Hospital Therapy Services.
She is a graduate of Rockhurst University and previously worked in an outpatient and industrial medicine clinic.
Christopher Diek-haus joined Ozarks Community Hospital, providing inpatient physical therapy and outpatient services. Diekhaus holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Missouri State University, and his emphasis is on acute and chronic orthopedic injuries and impairments of the spine and extremities, as well as post-surgical rehabilitation.
Kerry Scott joined Ozarks Community Hospital, seeing patients at the OCH clinic in Nixa. Scott is affiliated with the International Academy of Orthopaedic Medicine, serving on an advisory board that helps guide the education of area physical therapists and physical therapy assistants.
Stacy DePriest joined Ozarks Community Hospital as a speech and language pathologist. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees at Missouri State University and has more than 10 years of experience treating children and adults with communication and swallowing disorders. She also has experience treating adults with cognitive, speech-language and memory deficits
The Greene County Medical Society installed its 2009 officers in January. Dr. John Lilly, a family medicine physician at St. John's Clinic-East Sunshine, is the organization's 2009 president. Lilly previously served six years as treasurer for GCMS and is vice councilor for the Missouri State Medical Association. Lilly is a graduate of the Kansas City University of Medicine and Bioscience and the Cox Family Medicine Residency Program, and he holds a Master of Business Administration from Washington University. Other officers to be elected are Dr. Ibrahim Abdalla, president-elect; Dr. Jeffrey Fenwick, secretary; Dr. Boyd Crockett, treasurer, and Drs. Frank Cornella, Kent Dexter, Norm Knowlton III, Greg Lux, Erin Rivers and Victor Pace, councilors. Dr. Tom McClain, GCMS president in 2008, serves as immediate past president.
Dr. Anthony Tay joined the rheumatology staff at Skaggs Regional Health Center, working in the Ortho-Neuro Center. Tay is a graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and he completed an internal medicine residency at St. Louis University. He previously worked at Ferrell-Duncan Clinic and as chief of the rheumatology section at Kaiser Permanente in southern California.
Mike Peters, vice president of public affairs for St. John's Health System, was elected to the Missouri Foundation for Health Board of Directors, which provides oversight of all MFH activities, including grant-making. Peters has been with St. John's for 18 years, also serving as president of St. John's Foundation for Community Health.
Kelly Byrd, Rae Doke, Rhonda Flack, Paulette Ivey, Juli Shelton, April Simmons and Michelle Wormington, phlebotomists with Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, completed an on-site training session for several types of point-of-care devices. These devices provide clinicians with important patient laboratory testing information, enabling them to choose the most appropriate course of treatment quickly.
Bernie Dana, assistant professor of business at Evangel University, was elected 2009 chairman of the Board of Overseers for the American Health Care Association's Quality Award program. Dana, who also played a key role in developing the association's first Quality Symposium, held Feb. 5-6, was tapped to serve as moderator for a panel of Step III Quality Award recipients and was co-presenter on a seminar about developing effective process-improvement teams.
Dr. Shaveta Manchanda joined St. John's Clinic-Neurology. She earned her medical degree from M.P. Shah Medical College in Jamnagar, Gujarat, India, and completed a neurology residency with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
Dr. Guy Venezia, joined St. John's Clinic-OB/GYN-Hospitalist. He earned his medical degree from St. Louis University, where he also completed his OB/GYN residency training. He is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology.
Dr. Alastair D. Haddow joined St. John's Clinic-Infectious Disease. He earned his medical degree and completed an internship at the University of Glasgow in Glasgow, Scotland. Haddow completed his residency and fellowship training with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics and is board-certified in internal medicine and infectious disease.
Dr. Melvin O. Walker Jr., joined St. John's Clinic-Primary Care Southwest. He earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine and completed a residency with the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He is board-certified in internal medicine.[[In-content Ad]]
