Elliott, Robinson & Co. LLP promoted four staff members: Angelie Morano to senior accountant from junior accountant; Stephanie Rice to supervisor from senior accountant; Carrie Brown to supervisor from senior accountant; and Andrea Stevens to senior accountant from junior accountant.

BKD LLP promoted Certified Public Accountant Cody Sapp to senior associate II and Mary Knaup to senior consultant. A member of the firm’s national health care group, Sapp has led health care audits, reviews and compilation engagement. He has a bachelor’s in business administration from College of the Ozarks and also earned an MBA. With more than 25 years of experience, Knaup specializes in billing and accounts receivable recovery for skilled nursing facilities.

Education
Information Technology Council also named Ozarks Technical Community college’s online blackboard support service as 2014 recipient for Outstanding Technical Support or Service. Mindy Gomez, a coordinator of online instructional design and Web development, is accepting the award for OTC and presenting at the ITC conference.

Greene County voters elected eight new members to the University of Missouri Extension Council for the county. Harold Bender, Albert Niewald, Katie Steinhoff, Kip Thompson, Nancy Williams, Parrish Witt, Jan Wooten and Tamara VonFoerster will serve two-year terms.

Jennifer Johnston, an academic specialist at Missouri State University’s English Language Institute, and Rachel Peterson, a recruitment specialist at MSU’s West Plains campus, received Excellence in University Service awards.

Also, six MSU staff members were recognized with Staff Excellence in University Service awards: Mary Ann Wood, director of public affairs support; Howard Dressler, preventative maintenance coordinator; Jaime Ross, executive assistant; Sam Parker, maintenance electrician; Jessica Clements, new media specialist; and Keith Moncrief, custodian.

The Missouri State Library awarded Springfield Public Schools a $6,000 Nonfiction Collection Development Grant to expand educational resources available to Missouri students. The grant is funded by the Library Services and Technology Act through the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Franchise
Decorating Den Interiors owner Nola Shivers was appointed to the franchise’s Chairman’s Circle as one of its highest sales producers in 2013. Shivers, who received franchise Owner of the Year in 2012, has received the designation the last 10 years.

Health Care
Dr. Audrey Williams joined CoxHealth’s Family Medical Care Center. Williams, who also serves attending faculty for the residency program, attended medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and graduated from the Cox Family Medicine Residency.

Health analytics firm Healthiest Employers listed Mercy among its 100 healthiest workplaces in the United States, ranking the health system No. 22. Mercy was recognized, in part, for its Walk to Dublin program challenging co-workers to collectively walk 6,183 miles in a month, the distance to Dublin, Ireland, where Mercy was founded. Co-workers walked 123,000 miles combined.

Industrial
Charlene Meeker joined SWI Industrial Solutions as business development manager. Meeker brings 15 years of experience in community economic development, public relations, marketing and fundraising to the position.

Law
Gov. Jay Nixon appointed James Owen as associate circuit judge for Webster County. Filling the vacancy by retiring Judge Donald Cheever, Owen is an attorney with Hosmer King and Royce LLC. He has a bachelor’s from Drury University and a law degree from the University of Kansas.

Nonprofit
The Arc of the Ozarks made three staff changes. Tim Dygon, the former assistant to the vice president, was named vice president for program services. Chip Wolf, who previously worked as vice president and chief program officer for Great Circle, was appointed as vice president of operations. Two-year employee Marybeth Kleinsasser accepted the director of human resources position.

Jacquie Atkins joined Art Inspired as general manager. Atkins has experience as a licensed therapist in individual and family counseling, as well as nine years working in retail. She holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Evangel University.

Heather Landwer joined Great Circle as regional director of advancement for Missouri’s southwest region. With a focus on fundraising activities, Landwer has 10 years of experience in nonprofit foundation management and customer service, and she has a bachelor’s in English from MU.

The local charter of Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861–65, elected new officers: Doris Jones, president; Dee Dosch, senior vice president, Kathy Muckala, junior vice president; Fran Black, treasurer; Pat Haas, chaplain; Mary Yarber, patriotic instructor; Nancy Burfield, council member No. 1; Pat Dickens, council member No. 2; and Carmen Boyd, council member No. 3.

Special Olympics Missouri named Julie McCullick, the head coach for Partners In Your Community, as outstanding coach, and Shannon Dalton, mother of a Special Olympics athlete, and Jeff Fugett, a trooper with the Missouri Highway Patrol, as outstanding volunteers.

Real Estate
Toni Ellers joined Murney Associates, Realtors as a broker. Ellers previously worked at Carol Jones Realtors.

Lynn Greenstreet and Kris Erwin, two agents with Coldwell Banker Vanguard Realtors, joined forces as Team-Greenstreet. The full-service real estate group is working under the umbrella of Coldwell Banker Vanguard.

Miles Noennig was elected 2014 treasurer for the Missouri Association of Realtors. A broker for 16 years, Noennig is chief administrative officer for Carol Jones Realtors.

Retail
Brown Derby International Wine Center was named 2014 Retailer of the Year by Beverage Dynamics magazine. The store is credited with bringing boutique California wines to the Midwest when they were just receiving international recognition.  

Southwest Missouri manufacturers Askinosie Chocolate and Hammons Products Co. were among four companies in the state to receive Good Food awards.

Askinosie Chocolate was recognized for its 62 percent dark milk chocolate and sea salt bar, and founder and CEO Shawn Askinosie was one of 10 winners selected to speak during the Good Food Awards ceremony in San Francisco.

Hammons Products’ black walnut oil received first place from 16 finalists in the oil category.

Transportation
Prime Inc. was named Healthiest Company by Everyday Health Media. In the Everyday Health Awards for Innovation, Prime was recognized for its 13-week Driver Health and Fitness Program, which launched in 2012 to help enrollees lose one pound a week through menu guides, workout plans, shopping lists and instructional DVDs.[[In-content Ad]]
