Education
Missouri State University named Matt Morris vice president for administrative services responsible for facilities management, human resources, planning, design and construction, postal and printing services, and safety and transportation. With an MBA from MSU and a bachelor’s in business administration from Pittsburg State University, he’s worked as interim and associate vice president at MSU since February 2012. Morris succeeds Ken McClure, who retired. MSU added Chief Information Officer Jeff Morrissey to President Clif Smart’s administrative council. He also now reports directly to the president.
The Springfield chapter of the American Institute of Architects awarded three scholarships to Drury University architecture students. Abigael Weller received $1,000 and Julia Hartman and Grace Lounsbury were awarded $500 apiece.
Government
The board for the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. awarded full accreditation to the Springfield Police Department. The department also received the Meritorious Award for 15 or more years of accreditation.
The Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry recognized Sens. Bob Dixon, R-Springfield, and Ron Richard, R-Joplin, and Reps. Sandy Crawford, R-Buffalo, and Jeffery Justus, R-Branson, among 27 lawmakers with a perfect voting record in support of chamber priorities in 2015.
Health Care
Dr. Gulafsha Chaudhary joined CoxHealth’s Adult & Pediatric Urgent Care. She holds a medical degree from Lady Hardinge Medical College, affiliated with the University of Delhi, in India, and completed her residency at Harlem Hospital Center.
Mid-America Transplant Services received a 2015 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award from the U.S. Commerce Department. One of four recipients, MTS was recognized for serving the community by saving lives through increased organ and tissue donation.
Hospitality
Chateau on the Lake Resort Spa & Convention Center hired Nathan Wood as sales and marketing director. He previously directed sales at The Westin Columbus in Ohio.
John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts promoted Dena Soden to corporate director of strategic accounts. An 18-year JQH veteran, she previously directed sales at the Capitol Plaza Hotel & Convention Center in Topeka, Kan.
