Kevin Ailor, a certified public accountant and supervisor at accounting firm KPM CPAs PC, completed the Certified Information Technology Professional designation through the American Institute of CPAs.

Banking
Bart Evans joined Guaranty Bank’s mortgage center as a residential lender. Evans, who has 10 years of mortgage lending experience, is responsible for business development and customer service mortgage loan products.

Empire Bank promoted Jamie Clark to community president in Marshfield. Clark, who worked most recently as vice president of Empire’s Marshfield branch, has 16 years of banking and lending experience.

Sue Head was named to Branson Bank’s board of directors. Head works as director of character education for College of the Ozarks at The Keeter Center for Character Education and School of the Ozarks.  

Education
Photos taken by Missouri State University Art and Design professor Bruce West were selected for an international exhibition, named God Factor, in Braga, Portugal. The project, running through Dec. 22 at the Mosteiro de Sao Martinho de Tibaes, focuses on the fragile relationship between art and religion. West’s featured photos profile a rural Mississippi elderly couple who have run a nondenominational church out of their grocery store for 20 years.

Two long-time representatives of Ozarks Technical Community College received awards at the 48th Annual Missouri Community College Association Convention in Kansas City. Jackie McKinsey, founding member of the OTC Board of Trustees, received the Trustee Leadership Award. McKinsey was recognized for her efforts guiding the college through the hiring of both of its presidents, the building of a second campus and three additional locations as well as 20 years of service Missouri Special Education Advisory Board. OTC English instructor Michael Pulley received the MCCA’s Senior Service Award. Pulley has served as a member of the OTC faculty since 1991.

Government
The National Association of Manufacturers honored Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., with the Manufacturing Legislative Excellence Award. Blunt was recognized for supporting 100 percent of the policies identified by the organization as critical to the success of manufacturing in the U.S. during the 112th Congress.

Health Care
Skaggs Cancer Center oncology nurses Debby Fryer and Eddie Paulson were recently honored for their work in the field. Fryer is the recipient of the 2012 Lifetime Achievement award from the Oncology Nursing Society and has been an oncology nurse at Branson-based Skaggs Cancer Center since 1996. Paulson is the 2012 Rookie of the Year, nominated by co-workers for being a strong patient advocate.

Modern Healthcare magazine named Mercy Hospital Springfield as the 2012–13 Consumer Choice winner after a survey of Springfield consumers by National Research Corp. Mercy was rated first for overall quality, image and reputation, and for quality of doctors and nurses.

Insurance
Cindy Keener joined Craig Jamison’s AAA Insurance office as an assistant. Keener has eight years of experience as an administrative assistant and listing coordinator with Murney Associates, Realtors.

Brittany Waugh of Ollis & Co. obtained the Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow designation. Waugh, who holds a bachelor’s in marketing and sales management from MSU, began working with the company in 2009 and holds agent licenses in property, casualty and life insurance.

Law
Malkmus Law Firm LLC attorney Debra Gullett was named a 2012 Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine. Gullett, who works in tort and commercial litigation, graduated cum laude from the University of Arkansas School of Law and previously served as judicial clerk for Washington County, Ark., and as an associate attorney for Anderson Law Group.

Springfield attorneys Donald Jones and James Sivils Jr. were two of 79 lawyers named senior counselors at the Missouri Bar Association’s annual meeting in St. Louis. The designation goes to lawyers ages 75 and older or those who have been admitted to state bar for 50 years.

Springfield attorneys Dee Wampler and Joseph Passanise were recognized as Missouri Super Lawyers in the area of criminal defense by Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers Magazine. Nominated attorneys undergo a peer review of their resumes.

The Missouri Bar Association presented a 2012 Pro Bono Publico Award to Crista Hogan, executive director of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association. Hogan was nominated for the award by Legal Services of Southern Missouri for her history of work to innovate programs that serve the community, citing her work with attorney Brian Hamburg to create the Legal Services Spotlight program, which enrolled 101 attorneys in pro bono service.
