ADsmith Communications Inc. hired Haley Hoover as an account coordinator. Hoover, who holds a bachelor’s in marketing management from Missouri State University, supports the firm’s executive staff and provides marketing strategies for client, among other duties.

ADsmith also hired Tim Roark as a digital media assistant. Roark has a bachelor’s in general business and electronic arts and audio studies from MSU. 

Banking and Finance
Empire Bank hired Missy Montgomery as vice president and loan officer for the bank’s Marshfield location. Montgomery, whose responsibilities include commercial and residential lending, has 22 years of experience in financial services.

Derek Fraley joined BancorpSouth as vice president-commercial lender at the Battlefield Road branch. With a bachelor’s in finance from MSU and a master’s in finance and management from Rockhurst University, Fraley has worked in banking 17 years with stints at UMB and Guaranty banks.

Jason Whitesell joined Old Missouri Bank as vice president, overseeing lending in the Ash Grove and Walnut Grove areas. Whitesell has 13 years of lending experience and holds a bachelor’s in marketing from MSU.

Education
MSU assistant history professor Bukola Adeyemi Oyeniyi received a fellowship from the Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program to work in Nigeria at Joseph Ayo Babalola University. Oyeniyi plans to develop curriculum in African history, particularly social conflict resolution and peace building.

The Child Development Center at MSU received a $40,000 grant from the General Mills Foundation for its Taking Steps for Health Success program aimed at fighting childhood obesity.

Government
The Missouri Waste Control Coalition gave the city of Springfield the 2014 Outstanding Award in Waste Management for Environmental Innovation for planning and implementing leachate management at the city’s sanitary landfill. Springfield worked with SCS Engineers on the designs.

Health Care
Compass Counseling Services LLC promoted Keith Clouse to clinical coordinator. Clouse has worked for Compass Counseling for four years.

Hospitals & Health Networks Magazine named CoxHealth to its Most Wired list. It was one of 10 hospitals in Missouri named to the list based on its use of information technology to serve patients.

The American Hospital Association named Mercy to its Most Wired list. Mercy was recognized for integrated electronic health records and other efforts aimed at improving patient care based on 680 surveys conducted nationwide.

Insurance
Walnut Lawn Funeral Home Ltd. and DeGraffenreid-Wood-Crematory added Mike Ward and Brett Reith as funeral directors. With 28 years in the funeral profession in southwest Missouri, Ward was hired as a funeral director and preneed counselor. He previously worked as Greenlawn Funeral Homes’ funeral director. Reith, hired as a funeral director, preneed counselor and insurance agent, previously worked as a funeral director at Evans Funeral Home in Houston, Mo.

Law
Holly Jones joined Husch Blackwell LLP as a paralegal. With an associate degree in paralegal-legal studies from Drury University, she previously worked for Amy Lee Crites, Attorney at Law.

Manufacturing
Tuthill Vacuum & Blower Systems hired Brian Bengtson as a manufacturing engineer and Joan Singer as a buyer. Bengtson has 20 years of industry experience and previously worked for Custom Powder Systems. Singer has 15 years of experience in purchasing and previously worked as a buyer for Paul Mueller Co.

Pella Co.’s EFCO Commercial Solutions received the 2014 Glass Magazine Award for Most Innovative Software. EFCO’s system uses Department of Energy data for computing energy analyses on commercial buildings.

Media
Mediacom producer Corey Riggs, of Springfield, won first place at the 2014 Mid-America Cable Show Awards for a live telecast of a University of Missouri spring football game.

Nonprofit
The Gannett Foundation gave a $3,000 grant to the Springfield-Greene County Library District to create the Racing to Read to Go Home Visit Collection. The funds will pay for 70 early literacy sets of preschool age books for children to take home.

Three board members joined Habitat for Humanity of Springfield: Luke Fraser, senior vice president of commercial loans at Springfield First Community Bank; Chris Krans, sales manager at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage; and Jon Spalding, pastor at King’s Way United Methodist Church.

The Rotary Club of Springfield Southeast installed its 2014–15 board of directors: Heather Ramsey, Great Southern Bank, as president; Rick Van Pelt, Van Pelt & Van Pelt PC, as president-elect; Robin Gann, CoxHealth, as secretary; Mike Pearl, Details Salon, as treasurer; Jim Conley, Kingsley Group Business Brokers, past president; Dr. Bill Brell, Smile Zone, as club service director; Bill White, Bill White Insurance Agency, as community service director; Irwin Cohen, I.C. Consulting, as international service director; Don Harkey, People Centric Consulting Group, as new generations director; and Lori Johnson, TelComm Credit Union, as vocational service director.

Dan Bohannon joined Ozarks Food Harvest as the store donation coordinator for the food bank’s Retail Pick-up Program. He has 25 years of experience at Kraft Foods, with positions such as headquarters merchandising supervisor and customer retail manager.

Recreation
Fodor’s Travel website named White Water to the list of 10 Best Water Parks in the U.S. The travel website cited the park’s organization and family-friendliness.
