Accounting Clayton, York & Hopp CPAs partners Brittany Hopp and Kailey York obtained Certified Fraud Examiner certifications from the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. The partners, both Drury University accounting graduates, started the firm in 2009.
Administration The Hawthorn Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals in Springfield elected 2012–13 officers: Beth Willingham, president; Brenda Stewart, president-elect; Peggy Jones, secretary; and Donna Hanley, treasurer.
Government The Library Foundation of the Springfield-Greene County Library District elected fiscal 2013 officers: Andrew Tasset of Empire Bank and Central Trust & Investment Co., president; Todd Wojciechowski of Mid-Missouri Bank of Republic, vice president; Claudia Saul, independent beauty consultant for Mary Kay, secretary; and Rhonda Christopher of BKD Wealth Advisors, treasurer.
Health Care Mercy Health Foundation announced several staffing and leadership changes. Jean Gruetzemacher joined Mercy as vice president of Mercy Health Foundation. She previously spent nearly five years as director of development for Springfield Catholic Schools and has a bachelor’s in business administration from William Woods University.
The foundation named Brigitte Marrs and Jennifer Battagler regional major gifts officers. Marrs has a Bachelor of Arts from Drury and a Master of Education from Lincoln University and previously was director of alumni and development at Drury. Battagler has a bachelor’s in mass communication and public relations from Stephens College and a master’s in health care management from Indiana Wesleyan University. She has worked for the foundation since 2004.
The foundation promoted Andrea Makoski to special events manager. She joined the foundation in 2005, coordinating special events, and has a bachelor’s in business administration from Evangel University.
Bob Hammerschmidt, president of Commerce Bank, was elected board chairman of Mercy Health Foundation. The board also welcomed seven new members for fiscal 2013: Beth Raidel, community leader; Fred Marty, assistant Springfield city manager; Larry Catt, attorney; Dennis Hanks of Dennis Hanks Chevrolet; Rick Hughlett of Rick’s Automotive; Dr. Matthew A. Kienstra of Mercy Clinic; and Mark McNay of SMC Packaging Group. They will serve three-year terms.
Hospitality Best Western International presented its Directors Award to The Best Western Coach House in Springfield for its quality standards. The award recognizes hotels scoring in the top 20 percent of all 2,400 North American properties in cleanliness, maintenance and customer service.
Law Husch Blackwell ranked No. 14 on the American Health Lawyers Association’s 2012 Top Honors list for its attorney involvement. The firm, which ranked No. 1 in Missouri, moved up on the national list from No. 18 in 2011.
Nonprofit The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development recognized Denise Bench, a certified housing counselor with Consumer Credit Counseling Service, with the Champion of Service Award. Bench received the honor for her work with hundreds of local homeowners to help them remain in their homes despite difficult economic situations.
