Banking and Finance
Branson Bank promoted Sheila Strain to retail operations officer and branch manager for the bank’s Forsyth location. Strain has 26 years of banking experience and worked for Branson Bank in Forsyth since 2006. Ryan Sanders joined the bank as consumer loan officer in Forsyth. He brings five years of lending experience to the company.

Metropolitan National Bank hired Doug Page as senior vice president and regional commercial executive. Page brings 28 years of experience to the bank having worked most recently as senior vice president and commercial loan group leader at Empire Bank.

Education
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics-Athletic Trainers’ Association named Gary Turbak, associate professor and head athletic trainer at College of the Ozarks, the 2014 Athletic Trainer of the Year. Turbak also received the NAIA’s College/University Athletic Trainers’ Committee Athletic Trainer of the Year award. He has served C of O as head athletic trainer for 20 years.

Springfield Public Schools hired Tomas Brock as head boy’s basketball coach at Hillcrest High School. Brock worked previously as an assistant men’s basketball coach at East Central University in Oklahoma. He holds a bachelor’s in economics and finance from Southwest Baptist University and a master’s in health and physical education from Northwest Missouri State University.

Government
Moody’s Investors Service recently affirmed the city of Springfield’s bond rating of Aa1. Moody’s recognized the city’s efforts to increase its reserve balance, among other factors.

The Springfield-Greene County Library District Board of Trustees appointed two members: Michele Risdal-Barnes, manager and partner of The Risdal Enterprises LP and J-K Investments, and Matthew Simpson, co-founder of Five Pound Apparel LLC. The board also elected new officers for 2014-15: James Jeffries, president; Michelle Nahon Moulder, vice president; Steven Ehase, secretary; and Andrea McKinney, treasurer.

Health Care
U.S. News & World Report honored CoxHealth as its highest-ranking hospital in southwestern Missouri and No. 9 in the state in its annual Best Hospital rankings based on its high-performing status in three specialty areas: gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery, neurology and neurosurgery and pulmonology. Cox also was named a Silver Award honoree, a designation 12 percent of the 5,000 hospitals analyzed received. Mercy Hospital Springfield was among three out of 23 in southwest Missouri to meet standards for strong performance in the area. It ranked No. 14 out of 158 hospitals in the state, and was listed as high-performing in pulmonology.

Nonprofit
The Springfield Sunrise Rotary Club elected its new board of directors: Brent McCoy, president; Will Cologna, president-elect; Ken Homan, treasurer; Jean Gruetzmacher, secretary; Susan Haralson; G.R. Stovall; Kort Harshman; Luke Fraser; Paula Dougherty; Kathy Fritts; Ashley Twibell; Stacie Holland; Roland Geddie; Jimmy Stilley; Anthony Roberts; Shaun Gallagher; Charles Hachtel; and Carmine Ingenito.

The American Chamber of Commerce Executives selected Jim Anderson, former president of the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce, for its Life Member Award, the organization’s highest individual honor. Anderson was selected to receive the award in recognition of his service to the business community and the chamber of commerce profession.

Gov. Jay Nixon appointed Gary Maddox, CEO of the Southwest Center for Independent Living, to serve on the Missouri Statewide Independent Living Council for a term ending Oct. 29, 2016. The council submits and oversees the implementation of the state plan in accordance with federal law that authorizes grant programs supporting vocational rehabilitation, independent living and client assistance.

Real Estate
Nicole Quade and Mitchell Jenkins joined Murney Associates, Realtors as real estate agents. Quade previously worked in sales. Jenkins holds a bachelor’s degree from Evangel University.

Technology
Jerry Parnell, district manager of Automatic Data Processing serving southwest Missouri, received the company’s President’s Club award. The honor is bestowed to roughly 10 percent of the company’s top producers.[[In-content Ad]]
