Seven accountants in BKD LLP’s southern Missouri practice earned the certified public accountant designation: Matthew Boyd, a senior associate in the audit department; Jose Garcia and Robert Kelly, associates in the audit department; Jessica Dillard, a consultant in the consulting department; and Steven Brezik, Amber Dedmon and Brock Wiberg, associates in the tax department.

BKD hired associates in its Springfield and Branson offices: Ellyn Bruckerhoff, Hunter Cox, Todd Green, Meg Meystrik and Gabrielle McCollum, as audit associates, and Kyla Mahoney and David Schoenhoff as tax associates.

Athletics
Former Missouri State University Athletic Director Bill Rowe was selected as a Missouri Sports Legend by the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, while three individuals also were chosen for induction into the hall: St. Louis Cardinals’ closer Jason Isringhausen; Kansas City Royals groundskeeper George Toma; and Mansfield High School baseball coach Doug Jones.

Banking and Finance
Guaranty Bank promoted Jessica O’Sullivan to appraisal review officer within the bank’s credit department. She has worked for the bank since 2008, most recently as an appraisal review analyst, and holds a bachelor’s in administrative management from MSU.

Education
Several faculty and students of Southwest Baptist University’s physical therapy doctorate program presented research at the Combined Sections Meeting of the American Physical Therapy Association in Anaheim, Calif. SBU faculty involved were: Sarah Jones, Jeff Layman and Bev McNeal, associate professors of physical therapy; and Terry Cox, Herb Hamann, Connie Matheny and Tom Sneed, professors of physical therapy.

Arc of the Ozarks promoted Tiara Slack to vice president of quality management after four years as quality assurance director.  
    
Nixa High School teacher Kelly Simon Matney was named one of two Missouri finalists for the Patricia Behring Teacher Ambassador Award for National History Day. Award recipients must demonstrate outstanding creativity, commitment and inspiration in developing students’ interest in history education.

Stephanie Bryant, dean of the College of Business and David D. Glass distinguished leadership chair at MSU, was elected to the board of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International. She will begin serving a two-year term on the 29-member board in July.

The Armstrong McDonald School of Nursing at College of the Ozarks received continuing accreditation for 10 years from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

The Ozark School Board voted to hire Melia Franklin as the director of secondary learning for the 2016-17 school year. Franklin holds a bachelor’s in English and German from Drake University, a master’s in curriculum and instruction from University of Missouri and a doctorate in educational administration from University of Nebraska.

Engineering
Miller Engineering PC hired Melissa Payne as a building envelope consultant. She has 19 years of field experience.

Brewer Science earned a spot on Minority Engineer magazine’s Top 50 Employers in the United States.

Health Care
CoxHealth promoted Brock Shamel to administrative director of regional services and Julie Kiser to director of clinics. Shamel has a master’s in health administration from MSU, and Kiser has a bachelor’s in management from Evangel.
