BKD LLP associate Caleb Harris was named one of three Missouri recipients of the 2013 Elijah Watt Sells Award from the American Institute of CPAs. Harris, who holds a bachelor’s in accounting and economics/finance from Southwest Baptist University, recorded an average score of more than 95.5 across all four sections of the Uniform CPA Examination.

Digital LunchBox won four gold Addy awards at the 25th annual American Advertising Federation of the Ozarks banquet. The Everyday Hero recruitment video for the Western Taney County Fire Protection District received two gold Addys, and the others went for digital branded content on Reeds Spring Pizza Co.’s documentary titled, “Flambeed Noodles,” and for cinematography on a TV commercial for Florentina’s Ristorante Italiano.

Design
Obelisk Home Design Center hired registered interior designer Jeffrey Walker. He has eight years of industry experience and a bachelor’s in design from Missouri State University, as well as an MBA from Webster University.

Education
James Grandon, principal at Boyd Elementary School, was selected as this year’s Missouri Distinguished Principal by the Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals. He was one of 12 principals from MAESP districts honored.

The Rev. Joey Ellis was named vice president of global operations at Global University. Ellis has worked on assignment since 2004 as an Assemblies of God missionary to India and will continue to serve as regional director for Global University in India.

The Missouri Deca Association awarded Parkview High School instructor Cindy Shannon with the Crystal Catalyst Award at the business-education group’s state development conference. At Deca’s state competition, 10 Parkview students qualified for the organization’s international competition based on test and performance scores.

Finance
Vishal Patel joined RPS Financial Group as a financial representative, helping clients meet financial goals and selling insurance for the Northwestern Mutual subsidiary.

Government
Springfield Fire Department Capts. Heith Aldridge, Kelly Ash and Olan Morelan received the professional designation of Fire Officer by the Center for Public Safety Excellence. Designees must demonstrate continued career improvement, professional and personal growth, and a commitment to continuing education, training and skill proficiency.

Health Care
With 20 years of industry experience, Integrity Home Care Vice President Elisa Pellham was selected to serve on the Missouri Alliance for Home Care Board of Directors to advocate on state and federal home care issues.

Brittany Zachary joined Loehr Chiropractic and Acupuncture as marketing director. She has a bachelor’s in marketing from MSU.

Hospitality
Chef Branden Bentley of Aviary Creperie and Patisserie received top honors during the Springfield/Branson Taste of Elegance culinary competition. His winning dish earned the $1,000 top award and the opportunity to attend the national Pork Summit held in St. Helena, Calif. Six chefs prepared dishes for judging on originality, taste, presentation and menu applicability.

Law
Gov. Jay Nixon nominated Gregory Weaver of Everest College in Springfield to the Missouri Ethics Commission, which is charged with reviewing alleged violations of lobbying, campaign finance disclosure and conflict of interest laws. Weaver, whose term is scheduled to end March 15, 2018, serves as Everest’s lead paralegal instructor, and he holds a law degree from University of Missouri.

Nonprofit
Convoy of Hope named Kevin Jonas Sr. as honorary chairman. Jonas has managed the Jonas Brothers, Frankie Jonas and the Rosso Sisters.[[In-content Ad]]
