Lesley Guillot was promoted to vice president and secretary of Buddy Webb & Co. architectural firm. Guillot, a licensed architect in Missouri, Florida, Texas, Louisiana, North Carolina and South Carolina, has worked for the company for 10 years and holds a bachelor’s in architecture from Drury University. 

Education
Jim Baker was awarded the University Leadership Chair by the Missouri State University Board of Governors. Baker, vice president for research and economic development and international programs, is only the second administrator to hold the endowed chair since it was established in 2008. The two-year endowed position is given to a member of the university’s central administration.

The Missouri Department of Education awarded MSU’s counseling, leadership and special education department $100,000 in funding for tuition programs related to blindness, low vision, orientation and mobility. The department, led by Tamara Arthaud, will administer the funds to roughly 16 students enrolled in the graduate special education program for certification to become teachers of the visually impaired or orientation and mobility specialists.

Commerce Bank provided a $16,000 scholarship grant to the Missouri Colleges Fund, which supports student scholarships at 17 member institutions, including Drury, Evangel and Southwest Baptist universities.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture awarded a $277,243 grant to MSU agriculture professors Christine Sudbrock and Gary Webb for their project, “Linking to Focus on Agriculture Sustainability and Food Security.” The funds will help create two new courses – Survey of Sustainable Animal Agriculture and Advocating Policies Affecting Food Security – and establish a website, social media and student blog on agriculture.

Government
Gov. Jay Nixon nominated Robert George, a Republican from Aurora, to serve on the Public Defender Commission for a term ending March 11, 2019. The commission is responsible for hiring the state public defender director and making administrative rules for the public defender system. George served as Lawrence County prosecuting attorney 1989–2010.

The city of Branson received a silver certification from Ozarks GreenScore for adopting environmentally sustainable practices. The first municipality to be awarded an Ozarks GreenScore designation, Branson was recognized for their efforts in eliminating waste and emphasizing recycling that saved the city more than $100,000 and reduced greenhouse gas emissions by more than 2 million pounds.

Health Care
Mercy Springfield Communities made several personnel additions.

Dr. Beth Biernacki joined Mercy Breast Center at the Chub O’Reilly Cancer Center. Biernacki received her medical education from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City.

Nurse practitioner Elizabeth Bodine joined Mercy Clinic Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Bodine received her bachelor’s in nursing from Mercy College of Nursing and Health Sciences and completed her master’s in nursing, as well as the family nurse practitioner program at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and Missouri Southern State University.

Tessa Coltrin, Psy.D., joined Mercy Clinic Neuropsychology. Coltrin received her medical education from The School of Professional Psychology at Forest Institute and completed her postdoctoral residency at Pathways Community Behavioral Healthcare Inc.

Nurse practitioner Susan Holtkamp joined Mercy Clinic Ear, Nose and Throat. Holtkamp received her bachelor’s in nursing from Drury University and completed her master’s in nursing from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

Dr. Jerry Jaboin, Ph.D., joined Mercy Clinic Radiation Oncology at the Chub O’Reilly Cancer Center. Jaboin received his medical education and doctorate from Howard University/National Cancer Institute in Washington, D.C.

Mercy Clinic Hospitalists added Drs. Amar Jadhav and Hoanh Nguyen, as well as nurse practitioner Nicole Laurin. Jadhav received his medical education from MGM’s Medical College and Hospital in Aurangabad, India. Nguyen received her medical education from Tulane University School of Medicine. Laurin received a bachelor’s in nursing from Mercy College of Nursing and Health Sciences and a master’s in nursing from UMKC.

Nurse practitioner Sherri Martin joined Mercy Clinic Allergy and Asthma at Smith Glynn Callaway. Martin received a bachelor’s in nursing from Rockhurst University and a master’s in nursing from the University of Central Missouri.

Meg Sabini joined Mercy Clinic Anesthesiology. Sabini received a bachelor’s in nursing from Creighton University and completed a master’s in nursing from Rush University in Chicago.

Physician assistant Kara Walker joined Mercy Clinic Plastic Surgery at the Surgery Center. Walker received a bachelor’s in biology at MSU, where she also completed physician’s assistant training.

Ted Stutzman was named chief operating officer for Mercy Clinic-Pediatric Specialty Services. Stutzman will continue serving as the vice president for Primary Care in Mercy Clinic Springfield.[[In-content Ad]]
