Bott Radio Network, owner of KSCV 90.1 FM in Springfield, appointed Monna Stafford as regional manager of business development for southwest Missouri. Stafford has spent the last 12 years doing marketing, design, public relations and business management work for various groups in Branson, including the Shoji Tabuchi Theater.

Springfield Family YMCA added four new members to its corporate board of directors for 2005: Rick Barsness, founder and owner of Incredible Pizza Co.; Sherry Clay, president and CEO of Peak Performance Physical Therapy; Sherry Cook, president of People As Resources Consulting; and Pat Shivers, senior vice president and corporate controller for John Q. Hammons Hotels Inc. YMCA corporate board members serve two three-year terms and oversee policymaking for all seven branches of the Springfield Family YMCA.
Construction
Hermann Lumber Co., in Hollister, received the Springfield-based chain’s 2004 Store of the Year award. The Hollister store was chosen from among the chain’s 11 locations. In addition, Steve Maples was named manager of the year and contractor salesman Dave Grandel was named salesman of the year and received the sales achievement award.
Education
Campbell Elementary School Principal Tim Brown was named Missouri’s National Distinguished Elementary Principal for 2005. Brown was selected from among 13 elementary principals at the annual Missouri Association of Elementary School Principals conference at Tan-Tar-A Lodge in Osage Beach. He joined Springfield Public Schools in 1980 as a special education teacher and has been principal at Pleasant View and Reed middle schools and Central High School.
SMSU graduate student Strader Payton was selected by the Japan Local Government Center for an internship in Yokosuka, Japan, this summer. Payton has a Bachelor of Arts in Japanese and international affairs from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. While in Japan, his responsibilities will include teaching English to city employees and supporting international exchange programs in Yokosuka.
Health care
CoxHealth named Shana Tauai as the new coordinator of its Complementary/ Alternative Medicine program. Tauai has a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in health care management, as well as a background in health care operations, compliance and finance.
Financial
William W. Miller, a certified public accountant with Kirkpatrick, Phillips & Miller, CPAs, PC, recently completed a specialized educational program in professional divorce planning and is now a certified divorce financial analyst. Miller is trained to provide financial information and assistance to people in divorce, including evaluating tax implications of dividing property and settlement options for dividing pensions, marital property, and award of child and spousal support.
Mortgage One added mortgage banker Matthew Johnson. Johnson is a December 2004 graduate of Southwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business management. He has two years of real estate experience, including construction management and property management. Johnson specializes in conventional lending, including Federal Housing Authority and Veterans’ Affairs programs.

Kent Herring joined McLoud & Co. LLC as a salesperson and leasing agent for commercial real estate property.
Security
John Stevens joined American Detection Specialists Inc. as a part-time security consultant. Stevens is a local radio personality and continues his “Evenings with John Stevens” show on KOSP 105.1 FM.
Technology
Ryan Sims, co-founder of Springfield-based Web design firm Neubix Studios, was selected to join a panel of Web designers at the 2005 South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas. Sims will join a panel of four other interactive industry leaders to discuss and redesign a Web site live while offering tips and techniques.
