The 14th annual Citizens Memorial Healthcare Medical Excellence Scholarship Golf Classic, held at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club in Bolivar, raised $69,000 for the CMH Medical Excellence Scholarship Fund. The fund provides financial assistance to individuals in Polk, Hickory, Dallas, Cedar, Greene and Dade counties.

Hardee’s presented a $6,425 check to the Boy Scouts of America Ozark Trails Council to support more than 11,700 Boy Scouts throughout 31 counties. The donation represented 5 percent of Monday night sales from January through March at all southwest Missouri Hardee’s locations.

Finance

Metropolitan National Bank promoted Julie Cummings to the position of vice president of human resources. Cummings joined the bank in November as assistant vice president of human resources. Prior to working at Metropolitan, she served as corporate human resources manager for Ozarks Coca-Cola/Dr Pepper Bottling Co.

Health care

Dynatek Dalta, a medical device testing company in Galena, added Matt Thompson as its technical sales manager. Thompson is the point of contact for information on heart-valve and vascular-device testers, testing services, and silicone and latex mock vessels, as well as customer relations.

Mercy Regional Health Foundation at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Joplin has elected three new board members: Stephen Carlton, Carthage; Frank Dunnick, Girard, Kan.; and Daniel Stengel, Joplin. The foundation is a not-for-profit corporation established to provide health services, programs and equipment for St. John’s Regional Medical Center and other local and regional health organizations.

Springfield Neurological and Spine Institute LLC announced the addition of Dr. Edward J. Cunningham. Cunningham is a neurosurgeon currently completing a fellowship in endovascular neurosurgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree from St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1996 and completed his neurosurgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 2003.

Insurance

Erica Gaynor joined Ollis & Co. as an account manager associate, assisting producers and account managers. She is a licensed Missouri insurance agent and has prior experience working in the commercial insurance field.

Trevor Crist of Nixon & Lindstrom Insurance successfully completed the Registered Employee Benefit Consultant professional designation. Course study for the program includes five exams and covers all aspects of employee benefit programs. Crist has worked in the group health department at Nixon & Lindstrom for four years.

Law

Ron Dirickson was hired as the city attorney for the city of Republic. Dirickson received his juris doctorate from the University of Oklahoma School of Law. He served as assistant district attorney of Caddo County, Okla., for three years and as assistant city attorney for Springfield for 10 years. City attorney is a new position for the city of Republic.

Manufacturing

SLS International appointed Steven Lamar as president and Michael Maples as chief operating officer and chief financial officer. Lamar was formerly a managing partner at BayStar Capital Management LLC, SLS’s largest investor. Maples has served as an SLS director since 2001. The two executives entered into three-year employment agreements.

Real estate

Murney Associates added Gary Oyler as a managing broker at the Republic Road office. Oyler has three years of experience as a licensed broker and spent a year and a half as an auditor for the Missouri Real Estate Commission.

Restaurants

Steak-Out Char-Broiled Delivery of Springfield received a national sales award for placing in the top five for sales nationally among restaurants in the chain. The 1987-founded company, which operates 70 stores in 18 states, handed out the sales awards at its 2005 meeting in Atlanta.

Retail

Mary Carnett was named manager of Gamble’s Gift Gallery in Springfield. Carnett has been employed with Gamble’s for three years. The gift and bridal registry store specializes in fine crystals, porcelains, collectibles, china and other related products. Carnett previously sold real estate and was involved in community organizations in her previous home of Salem, Mo.

Waverly House Gifts & Gallery was selected as a nominee for the 2005 Top 100 Retailers of American Craft. Niche magazine, the trade publication for retailers of American crafts, will announce the winners at an Aug. 5 ceremony in Philadelphia.
