The Springfield Symphony added Matthew Ennis as development director and Karl Smith as marketing programmer, a new position. Ennis has worked as public relations and grants and contracts manager for the Dade County Health Department and as community specialist of income development for American Cancer Society’s Heartland Division office in Tulsa, Okla. His symphony duties include income development, sponsorship underwriting and grant writing. Smith is a May marketing graduate of Southwest Missouri State University. During school, he worked with the staff of the Juanita K. Hammons Hall for Performing Arts and also with Park East Inc., a local marketing and graphics design firm. At the symphony, he coordinates marketing and special events.

Banking

Citizens National Bank recently announced several promotions.

Bryant Doss was appointed assistant vice president for commercial loans. Doss, a member of the Strafford Board of Aldermen, has 12 years of banking experience. In his new position, he will be responsible for commercial and real estate lending.

Jeremy Ray, a CNB employee for three years, was promoted to vice president of residential construction, charged with the development of construction loans. He also recently completed training at the Missouri Bankers Association Graduate School of Lending.

Bart Ellison was named vice president of commercial lending. Ellison, who has four years of experience with Citizens National, will focus on new business development in commercial lending.

Karen Kroutil was promoted to branch operations manager for CNB’s new facility at 4221 S. Campbell in Springfield. She also will continue her involvement in corporate lending and managing the bank’s Internet banking products. She has 25 years of experience in banking, business development and administration.

Jeremy Bartlotti joined Farris Mortgage as a mortgage banker. Bartlotti, a graduate of Evangel University with a business management degree, has previous experience with mortgage lending and sales in the Springfield market.

Community

Julie Good joined Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield as the organization’s resource development associate. Good has worked in fund raising for more than 10 years, holding various positions at Rainbow Network and Students in Free Enterprise. She also has been associated with Boys & Girls Clubs as a parent; four of her six children have attended the Musgrave and Henderson units.

Education

Ozarks Technical Community College hired Stephanie Brown as director of development and alumni relations. Her responsibilities include implementing fundraising activities, events, newsletters and programming for the OTC Foundation and the OTC Alumni Association.

Engineering

Branden Warden joined Mettemeyer Engineering LLC as a structural engineer. Warden, who is currently completing his master’s degree in civil and structural engineering at the University of Kansas, is responsible for designing structural systems for commercial buildings.

Finance

Rebekah S. Wallace joined BKD LLP’s Springfield office. Wallace, a senior consultant for the company, has more than 13 years of experience in coding, revenue cycle management and operations. She provides medical reimbursement consulting and operational reviews for physician clinics, federally qualified health centers, rural health clinics and behavioral health centers.

Food service

Six Springfield-area McDonald’s restaurant managers were named 2004 outstanding restaurant managers. The six are David Bates, Kari Scott, Garry Hood, Amanda Roberts, Catrina Horned and John Sterling. Each manager was honored for delivering superior results in selected areas of performance, including store management and customer service.

Government

Gov. Matt Blunt announced interim appointments to state boards and commissions. Scott George of Mt. Vernon was appointed chairman of the Missouri Small Business Regulatory Fairness Board. George, president and CEO of Mid-America Dental & Hearing Center, will serve a term to end April 30, 2008, pending Senate confirmation.

Health care

Skaggs Community Health Center in Branson received accreditation from the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists. Skaggs’ laboratory is one of more than 6,000 CAP-accredited laboratories nationwide to be recognized for excellence of services.

Skaggs Community Health Center named doctors Mina K. Massey and Abed H. Itani to its medical staff. Massey, who is certified by the American Board of Family Practice, previously served at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

She specializes in family medicine and women’s health, including obstetrics and delivery.

A board-certified physician in internal medicine and pulmonary diseases, Itani comes to Skaggs after completing a three-year fellowship in pulmonary and critical care and sleep medicine at Cook County Hospital in Chicago.

He is a member of the American College of Chest Physicians, American Thoracic Society and the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

CoxHealth received a Medal of Honor Award from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for achieving organ donation rates at or above 75 percent. Cox is one of 184 hospitals nationwide to receive the award. The hospital has participated in the National Organ Donation Breakthrough Collaboration, an effort to increase organ donation, for the last two years.

Hospitality

Mark Hartman was named general manager of the Hilton Hotel Corp. project at Branson Landing. The project will feature a 241-room boutique hotel opening in June 2006, a 294-room convention hotel and a 220,000-square-foot convention center operated by Hilton. Hartman is a 22-year Hilton employee who has participated in nine other hotel openings. He previously served as general manager of Doubletree Hotel & Executive Meeting Center in Chicago.

Insurance

Barker Phillips Jackson added two new agents to its Springfield office.

Cecilia Early joined the company as a commercial line customer service agent. She has been in the insurance industry since 1986 and has been at the company since March 2004.

Sharon Bradley is a new commercial lines agent. She was previously an underwriter and an underwriter’s assistant, and she has been at the company since August 2003.

PJC Insurance of Springfield was named to the Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company President’s Club as a top agency for the second consecutive year. PJC Insurance ranks among Grinnell’s top 50 agencies for outstanding production and profitability over a five-year period.

Brandi Bradley recently joined Barker Phillips Jackson as a commercial lines processor. Bradley has two years of insurance industry experience in life and health insurance. She recently earned a license in property and casualty insurance.
