Architecture
Butler, Rosenbury and Partners was chosen to become one of 12 charter members of the Hilton Architect's Roundtable. Members are chosen on behalf of their performance on Hilton franchise projects. Butler, Rosenbury and Partners has a staff of 60 design professionals.
Certification
Keith Jolicoeur, CRTS, ATS, a specialist in assessing and providing assistive technology for people with disabilities, passed the credentialing exam to become a certified assistive technology supplier. Jolicoeur is one of two credentialed seating and mobility specialists at the local office of United Seating and Mobility.
Community
Kim Erdel was awarded the Cheri Clark Bouquet of Enthusiasm by the Junior League of Springfield. The annual award is presented to the Junior League member who best exemplifies a positive attitude and the desire to make a difference in the lives of others. Erdel is a seven-year active member of the Junior League of Springfield and recently served as vice president of membership. She currently serves as internal public relations chair.
Anthony D. Na'ayem was named president of the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Springfield. Also installed were President-Elect Angela R. Morelock, Vice President Carol J. Cruise and Secretary/Treasurer Kenneth W. Kraft. In addition, the following members will serve on the club's board of directors: Julie M. Conway, Dennis L. Erickson, William A. Longman, Richard Wilkinson and Milton Chamberlin. Immediate past president John D. Jamison continues to serve on the board.
Derrick Dohmen was named executive director of the Monett Area YMCA. Dohmen has been involved with the YMCA for almost six years, previously serving as the senior program director of the Milan Family YMCA in Milan, Tenn. He is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, where he earned a business degree in finance.
Education
Gov. Bob Holden appointed David Ansley, a partner with the law firm of Hall, Ansley, Rodgers and Condroy, to the Missouri Southern State University Board of Governors. The nomination is subject to confirmation by the Missouri Senate.
Fire department
Springfield Fire Department held its annual Retirement and Awards Banquet Feb. 17. SFD recognized several of its members with awards for lives saved, including the rescue of two girls from a burning apartment building in August. This rescue earned the members of Engine 1C and Truck 1C the Distinguished Unit Award. The Fire Officer of the Year was awarded to Training Capt. Kevin Smart for his work on many projects, including the department's First Responder program. SFD also recognized several citizens who intervened to save a life and several who aided the department in the past year.
Human resources
The Payroll Company announced two staff additions. Sherry Wayne joined The Payroll Company as a customer service payroll specialist. Wayne's duties include processing payroll and answering customers' questions. Kemmi Rusciano joined The Payroll Company as client-relationship manager. Rusciano's duties include working closely with clients and in new business development.
Law
Kent O. Hyde has become a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Fellowship in the college is extended by invitation to experienced lawyers who have mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked by the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility and collegiality. Hyde is a partner in the firm of Hyde, Love and Overby LLP, and he has been practicing law in Springfield for 20 years.
Charles Cowherd has been named the 2004 president of the Springfield Metropolitan Bar Association. Other 2004 officers are: Lee Viorel, president-elect; Catherine Moore, secretary; and Doug Lee, treasurer. 2003 President Linda Thomas serves as past president. Continuing board members Gail Fredrick, Lisa Ghan-Blumenstock, Clif Smart, Ron Carrier, Joe Passanise and Lynn Rodgers are joined by new members Kevin Austin, Brian Hamburg and Lisa Schrock. The organization's President's Award for outstanding volunteer service to the SMBA was presented to Richard Ownsby, Jim Cox, Michael Cully, Dee Wampler, Joe Passanise, Gary Powell, Brent Green, Lee Viorel and Rebecca Shuler.
Real Estate
United Country-Suburban Brokers, Ash Grove/Springfield, was awarded the Master Salesman Award for real estate sales excellence in 2003 from United Country Real Estate.
Services
Brett Baker, vice president of operations of Wood ReNew, was voted Most Valuable Promoter at the Wood ReNew national convention in recognition of his efforts to promote the Wood ReNew system and loyalty to helping the franchisees grow their businesses.
Nancy McNish, CME, owner of American Electrolysis Ltd., received the Dr. Bordier Award at the second annual Professional Hair Removal Conference in Dallas. McNish was given the award by colleagues in the Society for Clinical and Medical Hair Removal. McNish has been a member of the SCMHR since its formation in 1985 and served several years on the board of directors. The award is named for a 1900s-era French physician who developed thermolysis.
Bob Bowman of Westlake Ace Hardware was honored as one of the top-performing retail associates in the country by Ace Hardware Corporation. He has been with Westlake Ace Hardware for 16 years. He received $500 in cash, an engraved Ace watch and a plaque. The award is based on customer service, improvement in department sales and the associate's overall contributions to the store's success.
Transportation
Christenson Transportation Inc. earned second place in the 15 million to 24.99 million miles division of the Truckload Carriers Association's National Fleet Safety Awards Program. The company received its award in March at the TCA annual meeting in Hawaii. Division winners were selected based solely on accident infrequency.
