Several appointments were approved at the Sept. 19 Springfield City Council meeting. They are: Connie Henry to the Art Museum Board; Neil Guion to the Springfield-Greene County Public Library Board; Thomas Whitson to the Traffic Advisory Board; Jack Wheeler to the Planning and Zoning Commission; Paula Kemp and Nelda Zehner to the Springfield-Greene County Environmental Advisory Board; Sam Coring and Judith Vanderbilt to the Cable Television Advisory Commission; Carol Mihalevich and Amy Chenowith to the Public Building Corp.; and Gary Blankenship, Tristan Davies and Stanley Turner to the Landmarks Board.
O’Reilly Auto Parts received the first Ideal Service Award as part of Rotary’s Vocational Service Program. The award is given to companies that exemplify the values of Rotary – service to others, community involvement and ethical standards. Rotary is a 100-year-old worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provide humanitarian service.
Engineering
Global Link Land Surveying & Engineering recently added Brent Milleson as marketing and development director and Martin Gugel as an engineer. Milleson has a decade of experience in construction management and sales and marketing. Gugel has worked in the Missouri Department of Transportation as a highway designer.
Environment
Jim Fels, a registered geologist, was chosen to direct Environmental Works Inc.’s new Rolla office. The office expands Environmental Works’ service to south central and eastern Missouri. Prior to joining the company, Fels worked with the Missouri Division of Geology and Land Survey, specializing in subsurface investigations.
Finance
Liberty Bank hired two new employees. Bob Ward was named senior vice president for commercial loans. Ward has 32 years of banking and commercial loan experience, having served as president of three Springfield-area community banks. Ward has a master’s degree in accounting from Drury University.
Nigel Templeton is the newest mortgage loan originator for Liberty Mortgage. Templeton, originally from Glasgow, Scotland, has nine years of experience in mortgage lending, most recently with Mortgage One. He also has worked for companies in the United Kingdom, Germany and in the Middle East.
Three members of Eric K. Peterson, CFP, LLC recently attended Securities America Inc.’s national conference in Washington, D.C. At the conference, Eric Peterson, Tricia Manley and Raymond Eddings attended a speech by author and Washington Post reporter Bob Woodward.
Government
Jim Tucker, president and CEO of Springfield-based International Association of Fairs and Expositions, was appointed to serve on the Department of Homeland Security’s Outdoor Events subcouncil. The group works with DHS to protect commercial assets as a part of its National Infrastructure Protection Plan. The subcouncil consists of representatives from fairs, exhibitions, amusement parks and recreation centers.
Insurance
Jane Reed joined Great Southern Insurance as a commercial lines agent. She has more than 25 years of insurance sales experience, most recently as a producer for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. in Springfield. She holds a designation from the National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research as a certified insurance service representative.
Utility
Empire District Electric Co. in Joplin recently announced two staff changes. Laurie Hildebrand Delano was named controller and principal accounting officer. Delano has been director of financial services and assistant controller since 2002. She also serves as assistant secretary and assistant treasurer for the company’s board of directors.
Bary Warren was promoted to director of transmission policy and compliance for the company.
In his new position, he is responsible for transmission policy and system reliability compliance for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and other agencies. Warren joined Empire District’s staff in 2003 as manager of transmission policy.
