Four new staff members were hired at Sam A. Winn & Associates Architects. Chad Estes is the firm’s office manager and is training to assume the position of chief financial officer. Barry Gannaway works on programming, design and assisting with construction documents. Eric Shuler is an architectural intern working on design, facilities assessments and assisting with construction documents. Craig Stranathan also is an architectural intern, as well as co-director of information systems and director of 3-D and animated modeling.
Brad Parke was named director of marketing for Pellham Phillips Architects and Engineers. Parke is responsible for all aspects of marketing the firm, with special emphasis on church, hospitality and civic projects. Parke previously served as general manager for UniFirst Corp. and sales manager for Rental Uniform Service.
Carl James returned to Pellham Phillips Architects Engineers as the lead hospitality and parks/recreation architect. James will be responsible for architectural design, leadership and project management. Previously with Pellham Phillips, James has been with Sapp Design Associates for the last two years, where he focused on park and recreation projects.
Emily Harrold joined Dake|Wells as an intern architect. She is a 2004 graduate of Drury University’s Hammons School of Architecture. Her experience includes computer visualization, which will help the firm communicate design issues more effectively.
Construction
Three local members of the National Association of Women in Construction attended the NAWIC 50th anniversary celebration and convention. Stephanie San Paolo of Walton Construction, Cindy Rousseau of Great Southern Bank and Anna Mathis of Southwest Builders participated in workshops and ceremonies of the event.
Carol Kueker of Springfield Glass Co. was recognized during the event by the NAWIC Education Foundation for her work with the American Council of Construction Education to certify NAWIC Education Foundation Courses.
Additionally, NAWIC announced that seven local chapter members have achieved construction industry technician certification through the NAWIC Education Foundation. Mathis, San Paolo, Rousseau, Laurie Luna of Flintco, Sherri Bollinger of Varsity Contractors Inc., Regina Lansdown of Anthony & Associates and Tina Harris of Benchmark Construction Services Inc. are now certified construction industry technicians.
Bollinger was presented with Varsity Contractors’ Operations Spirit Award at an annual conference held in Boise, Idaho. The award recognizes an employee who provides administrative support in the field, who represents company values, meets deadlines and is a true example of professionalism.
Shirley Medley, owner of Benchmark Construction Services, and her daughter, Kim, won a trip to the Hawaiian islands from Wagner Interior Supply. Benchmark also received an all-expense paid trip to Canada for customer appreciation from Business Specialties.
Planning
The city of Ash Grove has received an Excellence in Planning Award from the Missouri Chapter of the American Planning Association, during the chapter’s annual conference in Kansas City. Ash Grove received the Special Community Initiative award for its Smart Growth Initiative.
Real Estate
The Tri-Lakes Board of Realtors raised $3,366 for Habitat for Humanity during its fund-raiser which challenged all 84 Tri-Lakes Board of Realtors member offices to contribute at least $100 each, the amount the board donated. The money raised will help buy windows and doors for homes being built by Mountain County Habitat for Humanity.
CRW Properties Inc. announced two staff changes. Joe Watkins is the company’s new vice president of finance and chief financial officer. He has 25 years of experience in real estate development and management.
Watkins is also a certified public accountant and holds a master’s degree in business administration from Missouri State University in addition to being a licensed real estate broker.
Anita King is CRW’s new human resources director. King has more than 12 years of human resources experience. She previously held the position of human resources director for the city of Republic. King has a master’s degree in human resources development from Webster University and a degree in communications from Missouri State University.
