Smith has been an associate member of HBA since 2001.
Terry Bowen joined Noble World Communications as chief operating officer and acting chief financial officer. He has responsibility for the business operations of the parent company and its advertising agencies in Springfield; Chicago; Milwaukee; Easton, Pa.; and Bentonville, Ark. Bowen was formerly president of the consumer products unit for Carthage-based Leggett & Platt, where he spent 23 years serving in a variety of jobs including division controller and group vice president of operations.
Construction trades
Ken Moore joined Connelly Plumbing Co. as industrial piping division manager. Moore’s duties include client consultation, estimation and project management. Moore has more than 30 years of experience in the pipe trades industry.
Education
Michael Carlie, Ph.D., professor of sociology and anthropology at Southwest Missouri State University, received the 2004 Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching at the 2004 Governor’s Conference on Higher Education in Columbia. Carlie also was honored earlier in 2004 by the National Academic Advising Association at a ceremony in Cincinnati for his success as a faculty academic adviser.
Finance
Tim Baker joined Ozark Bank as a vice president and loan officer at its Nixa facility. Baker graduated from Union University in Jackson, Tenn. in 1987. He has more than 10 years of commercial loan experience.
Hotels
University Plaza Hotel and Convention Center has added two new members to its sales team. Anjie Willoughby is corporate sales manager, and Jani Torrence is group sales manager. Their responsibilities include business development, community networking and customer satisfaction.
Chateau on the Lake Resort and Convention Center in Branson received the four-diamond rating from AAA. The four-diamond rating is given to upscale properties that offer an extensive array of amenities combined with a high degree of hospitality, service and attention to detail.
Law
Matthew E. Searing, formerly an associate with Hall, Ansley, Rodgers & Condry PC, has accepted a position with D.J. Roofing Supply Inc. as corporate counsel at its Springfield headquarters.
