David M. Compere, certified financial planner and vice president/senior portfolio manager at Springfield Trust Co., graduated with honors from the American Banker’s Association National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University in Chicago. It is a three-year curriculum with courses in financial planning, investments, insurance, estate and tax planning. Honors graduates must score high in three exams and seven independent research problems.

Community Financial Credit Union announced several staff promotions. Carey Highley was promoted to vice president, financial services. She joined the credit union in 1994 as a financial services officer. She also has served as senior financial services officer and assistant vice president of financial services. Highley has more than 15 years of experience in banking. She holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University).

Shana Jahnke was promoted to branch manager of Community Financial Credit Union’s Walnut Lawn location. She joined the credit union in 2003, serving as financial services officer and card services manager. Jahnke has served as acting branch manager since February. She has nearly 18 years of experience in banking and lending.

Chrystal Hays was promoted to financial services officer. She joined the credit union in 2002 as a financial services representative. Hays has more than seven years of banking experience, with four years focused on mortgages.

Kim Snook was promoted to financial services officer with the credit union. She joined Community Financial Credit Union in May 2003, and she has prior banking experience. Snook holds a bachelor of science degree in administrative management from Southwest Missouri State University.

Human Resources

Harold Horsey was named facilities/ equipment manager for Penmac’s corporate headquarters in Springfield. His responsibilities include facilities development, purchasing and sales. Horsey recently retired from the dairy industry. Prior to that, he was employed by Castle Builders and American National Insurance Co.

Law

Gov. Bob Holden named Jason Brown associate circuit judge for Greene County, 31st circuit. Brown, who runs a private practice in Springfield, earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Missouri-Columbia and a law degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law. He was an SBJ 40 Under 40 honoree in 2002. Brown also is a member of the Springfield Little Theatre board and Rotary Club of Springfield. He replaces Judge Dan Conklin, who resigned.

Scott D. Johnson, Michael W. Lutke and Anissa Moore joined the Springfield Public Defender’s Office as assistant public defenders.

Joseph D. “Chip” Sheppard III, a shareholder of Carnahan, Evans, Cantwell & Brown, was invited to accept election as a fellow of the American Bar Foundation. The American Bar Foundation recognizes lawyers whose professional, public and private careers have demonstrated outstanding dedication to the welfare of the community, the traditions of the profession and the maintenance and advancement of the objectives of the American Bar Association.
